TM Forum Introduces Innovative Core Network High-Reliability AN Solution Package for Autonomous Networking

TM Forum's Groundbreaking Autonomous Networking Solution Package

In a significant move towards revolutionizing autonomous networks, TM Forum has recently launched the Core Network High-Reliability AN Solution Package during the Innovate Asia Autonomous Networks Masterclass. Michael Wang, a core network solutions expert from Huawei, was present at the unveiling, which showcased a refined approach to this emerging technology.

Core Features of the High-Reliability AN Solution Package

This newly introduced solution package focuses on critical functionalities aimed at achieving exceptionally high stability. By integrating TM Forum's IG1500 standards, the package provides reusable templates conducive to the creation of autonomous networks. Such innovation marks the beginning of commercial replication for core network solutions known for their reliability.

The solution encompasses seven dimensions aimed at enhancing core network stability:
1. Deployment Architecture: Ensures ultra-stable rollout methods.
2. Control Plane Disaster Recovery: Safeguards control system operations.
3. User Plane Disaster Recovery: Minimizes interruptions for end-users.
4. Infrastructure Recovery: Facilitates swift restoration of network infrastructure.
5. Signal Peak Mitigation: Addresses and counters peak signal challenges.
6. Risk Prediction: An anticipatory approach to potential failures.
7. Service Interruption Recovery: Reduces downtime effectively.

By employing the Management Data Analytics Function (MDAF) as defined in 3GPP TS 28.104, this package offers a systematic and comprehensive resilience framework for networks. By incorporating digital twin technology, it facilitates end-to-end closed-loop management, bolstering the network’s capacity to withstand extreme scenarios such as signal storm events.

Innovations in Risk Assessment

A standout feature of the solution package is its advanced methodology for assessing signal storm risks. Through digital twin modeling, a virtual network environment is created, allowing for the prediction of risks and the proactive implementation of defenses. Before a signal storm occurs, the system collects traffic statistics, connection data from nodes, and device timing configurations to generate impact models via simulation programs. This predictive approach allows for a precise evaluation of network capacity, leading to optimization recommendations that help operators avert potential failures.

Accelerated Standardization in the Industry

The AN Solution Package strictly adheres to TM Forum’s IG1500 standards and seamlessly integrates with existing systems through standardized APIs. In his address, Michael Wang emphasized that the solution package provides a standardized technical implementation model, showcasing its feasibility within core network stability assurance scenarios under the Catalyst project. He referenced optimization practices from an operator focused on infrastructure disaster recovery, which include:
  • - Accurate identification of VIP users.
  • - Quick determination of recoverable paths.
  • - Rapid generation of recovery solutions.
The overarching goal here is to significantly reduce the network recovery times for VIP users from thirty minutes to just one minute, while maintaining a thirty-minute recovery timetable for regular users. By implementing a differentiated service assurance policy, the solution optimizes the network experience for high-priority users, effectively mitigating potential economic losses caused by the turnover of VIP customers.

With the introduction of the AN Solution Package, core network stability assurance has now been officially incorporated into TM Forum's standard scenarios. Huawei's reproducible and scalable paradigm enhances resilience, providing operators a robust tool for improving network reliability while simultaneously aiding the monetization of network evaluations.
