Exploring WELL-BEING: The Upcoming Exhibition at Tokyo Midtown Design Hub

Discovering the Creative Intersection of Design and Wellness

The renowned Tama Art University will launch its 117th exhibition titled 'WELL-BEING: Our Tools & Methods for Well-Being' at the Tokyo Midtown Design Hub starting on December 1, 2025. This showcase is part of a series commemorating the university's upcoming 90th anniversary in 2025.

The exhibition delves into the burgeoning concept of WELL-BEING, which transcends basic physical and mental health to encompass a broader sense of living well. The display will highlight the significant role that design plays in supporting and nurturing this sensibility within our daily lives.

Diverse Contributions from Multiple Fields
Curators will present research and findings by both students and faculty, focusing on themes such as AI in design, circular design principles, strategic design, design anthropology, and playful design. Notably, the exhibition will not be limited to designers and artists; it will also showcase creative contributions from professionals in various fields, including chefs, doctors, and fishermen, illustrating the wisdom and ingenuity found within their daily lives and work.

In addition to the exhibition, attendees can participate in related events, including gallery tours, hands-on workshops, and symposiums. One particularly exciting aspect is the introduction of TAMA DESIGN UNIVERSITY, an initiative that spans multiple academic disciplines and encourages collaboration among the arts, design, and real-world applications.

A Look into TAMA DESIGN UNIVERSITY
Launched in 2024, TAMA DESIGN UNIVERSITY operates as an interdisciplinary research project designed to plant the ‘seeds’ for a future filled with innovative ideas and solutions. It actively explores how the various sectors of design can unite to enhance WELL-BEING through creativity and shared knowledge.

Contributors to this initiative include a diverse group of professionals from the Tama Art University community, covering a broad spectrum of disciplines and approaches. Each individual draws on their unique experiences to present the 'seeds of richness' for a flourishing daily life.

What to Expect at the Exhibition
This exhibition promises to showcase a wealth of wisdom and creativity, asking the question: What are the tools and methods that cultivate WELL-BEING? Visitors will find inspiring and insightful projects that encapsulate thoughtful ideas about enriching life, as well as contributions that emphasize sustainable practices and community well-being.

Each visitor is encouraged to discover their own unique 'seeds' of WELL-BEING throughout their daily routines and reflections.
