CJ 4DPLEX and Cinépolis Expand Global Presence with New 50 Theater Partnership
CJ 4DPLEX and Cinépolis Expand Their Partnership
CJ 4DPLEX, a leading innovator in cinema technology, has officially entered into an agreement with Cinépolis, a major player in the film exhibition industry, to expand their partnership by adding and upgrading a total of 50 theaters. This collaboration not only reinforces their longstanding relationship but also aims to transform the moviegoing experience across multiple venues globally.
New Developments in the Agreement
Under the terms of this new deal, Cinépolis plans to open 30 new SCREENX auditoriums, which will be located in key markets such as Mexico, Central and South America, as well as Spain. In addition, 20 existing 4DX locations in Mexico will receive significant upgrades. Such strategic enhancements stand to benefit audiences by enhancing their cinema experience with cutting-edge technologies.
For more than ten years, CJ 4DPLEX and Cinépolis have worked closely together, launching the very first 4DX cinema in 2011 in Mexico. This reaffirms the strategic significance of their partnership. Currently, Cinépolis operates six SCREENX auditoriums, 55 4DX locations, and holds the distinction of owning the only Ultra 4DX theater in the Americas.
What SCREENX and 4DX Bring to the Table
SCREENX is media recognized as the world’s first multi-projection cinema. It provides a stunning 270-degree panoramic view, creating an immersive atmosphere that draws audiences into the narrative like never before. By extending scenes onto the side walls of the auditorium, the SCREENX experience ensures that viewers are enveloped by the action and storytelling on-screen. Future SCREENX theaters are set to feature luxury recliner seating, Barco Laser technology, and Immersive Audio systems enhancing the viewing experience, making it a memorable adventure for moviegoers.
4DX, on the other hand, offers a sensory experience that engages various senses beyond the visual elements of film. With motion-enabled seating and more than 21 unique effects that include wind, water, scents, and vibrations, 4DX transforms traditional film watching into an extraordinary multi-sensory event. Presently, there are over 780 4DX auditoriums operating in more than 70 different countries, showcasing its expansive global reach.
Statement from Leadership
Miguel Mier, COO of Cinépolis, expressed his enthusiasm about this partnership, stating, “From the moment we opened our first 4DX theater, we recognized that a new era of cinema had begun. This next chapter with CJ 4DPLEX emphasizes our commitment to innovate and improve the cinematic experience for our audiences across various regions.
