Japan Carrier Launches Eco-Friendly Super Multi U R32 Model in December 2025

Japan Carrier's New Eco-Friendly Solution: Super Multi U R32 Model

Japan Carrier Co., headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is preparing to introduce an innovative multi-air conditioning system, the Super Multi U R32 model, in December 2025. This new offering comes as a response to the refrigerant regulations in Japan, adopting R32 refrigerant, which significantly reduces environmental impact compared to previous models that used conventional refrigerants.

Background and Importance of the Launch

As concerns over climate change become increasingly urgent, the demand for energy-efficient solutions, especially in air conditioning systems—which contribute significantly to overall building energy consumption—has intensified. The need for advancements in energy-saving technologies is crucial in efforts to combat global warming and achieve carbon neutrality, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Furthermore, Japan Carrier recognizes the growing labor shortages in installation and maintenance sectors, prompting an urgent need for automation solutions. In response to these evolving challenges, the company has developed the Super Multi U R32 model with a focus on environmental sustainability, safety, ease of installation, and enhanced indoor air quality.

Key Features of the Super Multi U R32 Model

Environmental Considerations

The Super Multi U R32 model utilizes R32 refrigerant, adhering to the recent laws aimed at suppressing the emissions of fluorocarbons. This refrigerant has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) score of only 675, representing a reduction in environmental burden of approximately one-third compared to conventional refrigerants previously used by the company.

Additionally, the model features a DC triple rotary compressor and incorporates Carrier's proprietary “Vane Sealing Injection Technology,” which significantly enhances heating efficiency and boosts energy-saving capabilities.

Safety Design

To ensure user safety, especially given the mildly flammable nature of R32 refrigerant, all indoor units are equipped with built-in refrigerant leakage sensors. The design also includes a shut-off valve unit, further prioritizing the safety of users and installers alike.

Enhanced Comfort

The design of the ceiling cassette, four-way type, includes standard features such as a “UVC Drain Water Sterilization Function.” Moreover, it supports an optional plasma air purification unit to combat microbial growth and potential drainage blockages, thereby enhancing overall air quality.

Japan Carrier's President, Mr. Toru Kubo, expressed, “This product covers a broad range of grades with a versatile combination of indoor units, meeting the demands of the times while prioritizing high energy efficiency for the environment. Japan Carrier remains committed to monitoring industry trends and valuing feedback from the installation and construction sectors to pursue genuine value that is needed in the field.”
