Universal Technical Institute's HVACR Program

The Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Orlando is making a significant move by introducing a new Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) program set to commence in March 2025. This initiative is expected to address the increasing demand for skilled technicians in the state, particularly in the fast-growing temperature control industry.

Growing Demand for HVACR Technicians

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there is a projected 9% growth in employment opportunities for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers from 2023 to 2033. This is notably faster than the average growth rate for all occupations, highlighting the essential role technicians play in maintaining air quality and temperature management across various settings.

The HVACR program at UTI-Orlando will span nine months and cover a wide range of topics including air handling and hydronics, AC and DC circuits and components, sheet metal ductwork, vent system selection and installation, along with mechanical and electronic controls troubleshooting. This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates will be well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry.

Addressing Local Needs

Tim Dauber, President of UTI-Orlando, emphasized the importance of this new program, stating, "As enrollment opens for our HVACR program, we're addressing the growing demand for skilled technicians in Florida's dynamic and expanding temperature control industry."
