Estuary Power Completes Escape Solar and Storage Project
In a significant milestone for renewable energy innovation, Estuary Power has completed its Escape Solar and Storage project located in Lincoln County, Nevada, fulfilling its construction objectives by December 2025. This cutting-edge facility is now operational and provides a total of 185 megawatts (MW) of solar energy and 400 megawatt-hours (MWh) of battery storage capability to multiple clients, including MGM Resorts International.
Upon achieving final completion, Estuary Power commenced supplying 115 MW of solar energy and the full battery capacity to MGM, with a long-term agreement spanning 25 years. This initiative is particularly noteworthy as it aligns with MGM's sustainability efforts, supplying clean energy precisely during peak demand times. Prior to this, in June 2025, the project saw an initiation of solar energy supplies to clients such as Overton Power District No. 5, Caesars Entertainment, and Wynn Las Vegas, totaling 70 MW under similar long-term agreements.
Jill Daniel, CEO of Estuary Power, expressed pride in serving such distinguished customers and highlighted the complexity of the Escape project, which was delivered ahead of schedule. This achievement underscores Estuary's prowess in developing and executing large-scale energy solutions through innovative strategies and disciplined management. She acknowledged the support from customers and community partners, emphasizing the collaborative effort that brought this project to fruition.
Bill Hornbuckle, CEO and President of MGM Resorts, lauded the new solar project as a step toward realizing the company's target of 100% renewable electricity by 2030. The Escape Solar and Storage project, along with the Mega Solar Array, exemplifies MGM's commitment to sustainable practices while ensuring long-term cost stability in its operations. This strategic move not only enhances MGM’s environmental footprint but also promotes resilience in energy sourcing.
In late 2025, Estuary Power secured the final funding through a tax equity investment from Morgan Stanley Renewables Inc. and completed the transition of its construction loan provided by Denham Capital on behalf of its clients into a long-term commitment. The project’s permanent financial structure also includes a letter of credit facility from Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale.
The construction of Escape's solar arrays was orchestrated by Bechtel Infrastructure and Power Corporation, while Tesla, Inc. managed the installation of the advanced battery energy storage systems. Additionally, Dashiell Corporation facilitated the completion of crucial substations and transmission upgrades, and JinkoSolar supplied state-of-the-art TOPCon photovoltaic modules for the project.
Estuary Power, headquartered in Reno, Nevada, is dedicated to the development, ownership, and operation of large-scale energy generation, storage, and transmission projects across the western United States. Backed by the Ullico Infrastructure Fund, which manages $6.3 billion, Estuary aims to lead the transition to renewable energy solutions.
