Recently, the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Austin, Texas, hosted the 11th annual Young Escoffier culinary competition, where high school teams showcased their talents in a thrilling and challenging environment. A total of 38 teams from across Texas participated in this culinary showdown, demonstrating precision, teamwork, and creativity while competing for scholarships totaling over $30,000.

Participants included students from various towns, with some traveling from as far as Wichita Falls and Corpus Christi to compete. Each team, consisting of four members, was tasked with preparing and plating a dish using a mystery basket of ingredients. They had only 60 minutes to impress the judges—a test that required not only cooking skills but teamwork, organization, and quick thinking under pressure.

Winners and Scholarships
The hard work of participants was rewarded with cash prizes and scholarships. The first-place award went to the Georgetown ISD Culinary Future (Team #2), with each member receiving a knife kit, a medal, and a scholarship of $3,000 to further their culinary education at Escoffier.
Smithville High School (Team #1) claimed second place and earned a $2,000 scholarship per member, while Hutto High School (Team #2) reached third place, securing a $1,500 scholarship for each member. Additionally, all participating teams received a $500 scholarship, further emphasizing the commitment of the Young Escoffier event to nurture emerging culinary talent.
