EXPO 2027 Belgrade: Unlocking New Business Prospects for Serbia and North Macedonia

Exploring the Business Opportunities at EXPO 2027 Belgrade

As Serbia readies itself for the upcoming EXPO 2027, the event is not just a showcase of cultural and technological advancements; it's a gateway for economic growth and networking opportunities for both Serbia and North Macedonia. The momentum leading to the EXPO is creating a fertile ground for expanding trade and tourism between these neighboring countries.

A Focus on Trade and Tourism

Recently, a B2B event titled "Visit Serbia" took place in Skopje, attracting over 50 representatives from various economic and tourism sectors. This initiative is part of the broader global outreach program designed to highlight Serbia's diverse opportunities. This event served as a platform for dialogue, aiming to foster collaborations that can lead to mutual benefits as both nations approach the expo together.

The collaborative spirit is palpable, with North Macedonia preparing to showcase a national pavilion at EXPO 2027. The theme of the pavilion, "All Rhythms of the Sun," will highlight the country’s vibrant music, exquisite gastronomy, world-renowned wines, rich tourism offerings, cultural heritage, and its burgeoning creative industries.

Economic Engagement and Forums

Danilo Jerinić, the CEO of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, emphasized the importance of unifying economic and tourism players from North Macedonia. He invited stakeholders to seize the opportunity presented by the expo to enhance regional synergy.

The expo is structured to include six specialized forums and a two-day global summit focused on business and technology advancements. Over 250 bilateral events and 50,000 individual business meetings are anticipated to take place during the expo. To facilitate networking, a digital B2B platform will assist attendees in finding potential partners and scheduling meetings.

Joint Tourist Routes

In addition to showcasing their respective initiatives, representatives from both countries explored the possibility of developing joint tourist routes, connecting destinations in Serbia and North Macedonia. This collaborative vision holds promise, particularly when considering that from January to July 2026, Serbia witnessed a significant surge of 82,047 visitors from North Macedonia—a 22% increase from the previous year.

A Major Event with Global Appeal

Set to run from May 15 to August 15, 2027, the EXPO will bear the theme "Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All." This 93-day event is projected to draw over 140 participants from around the world and is expecting to welcome approximately four million visitors. The expo aims to blend cultural exchange with economic opportunity, so countries can showcase their best while fostering better international relationships.

The upcoming EXPO 2027 will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping the future commerce and tourism initiatives between Serbia and North Macedonia. As the nations come together to participate and engage on this global stage, they set the groundwork for a more interconnected future, enriched by their shared history and vibrant cultures.
