Seven-Eleven Japan, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo and led by CEO Tomohiro Akutsu, is excited to announce the launch of the "Summer Ibaraki Yumekaori Fair," beginning July 14 at select Seven-Eleven stores in Ibaraki Prefecture. This fair will showcase six delightful bread products made with the premium Ibaraki wheat known as Yumekaori. These breads feature a variety of sweet and savory options, highlighting the unique flavors of local ingredients.
A Taste of Ibaraki
Underpinned by the motto of promoting food from local farms, the fair includes two existing products alongside four new offerings, ensuring a well-rounded selection. One standout is the "Tenshi no Shiro Mocchi" series, which is famous for its chewy texture. Additionally, products featuring the jam made from the native Otome melon will be available, further elevating the local flavor experience.
This year marks the sixth consecutive year of utilizing Yumekaori wheat, where Seven-Eleven has cultivated a strong partnership with local farmers to deliver delicious, community-focused products. The momentum behind this initiative has gradually expanded from simply replacing flour in existing products to developing new items and ensuring a consistent supply throughout the year.
Yumekaori Wheat: Quality and Flavor
Yumekaori wheat, certified by the Ibaraki Bread Wheat Cultivation Research Association, is known for its high protein content and excellent baking qualities—ideal for producing delightful bread. Over 90% of the wheat used in the selected products comes from Yumekaori, enhancing the chewy texture and bringing forth the natural aroma of the wheat. The variety and quality of ingredients available emphasize the richness of Ibaraki's food culture, inviting customers to indulge in this seasonal offering.
Supporting Local Economy
Seven-Eleven's efforts in promoting "local production for local consumption" shine through this fair as they strive to elevate the unique culinary offerings of each area. By leveraging high-quality local materials, the company is facilitating economic growth and supporting local farmers, thereby bolstering the community as a whole.
