Fostering Children's Sensibilities Through the Magical Forest Atelier Workshops Nationwide

A New Creative Journey: The Magical Forest Atelier Workshop

In a unique initiative to nurture the imaginative abilities of children, CHEERS Co., Ltd. and Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance are collaborating to launch the Magical Forest Atelier®, an engaging workshop experience hosted at Aeon malls across Japan. This workshop is designed to cultivate children’s senses by allowing them to explore, create, and express their personalities in a supportive environment, making it a valuable experience for both kids and their parents.

Launching Nationwide

The journey begins in May 2026 with the inaugural session held in Nagoya at Aeon Mall Shin-Norikura. Following this event, the workshops will expand to various locations including Tsukuba, Takasaki, Saga, Himeji, Osaka, and Funabashi throughout June, providing families with free access to sensory-stimulating activities aimed at developing creativity in children.

What is the Magical Forest Atelier?

The Magical Forest Atelier® workshop encourages children to engage in a creative process that mirrors the thrill of discovering their favorite things in a forest. The focus isn't on skill or perfection; instead, it emphasizes the joy of trying and exploring. By using natural materials such as gemstones and dried flowers, children interact with colors and textures, fostering their emotional awareness and creative expression.

Participants will find themselves in a whimsical forest-world setting that invites curiosity and exploration. This enchanting environment is crafted to capture children’s imaginations and draw them into a space where they can discover what fascinates them.

Creating Personal Worlds with Nature

During the workshop, children and parents collaborate on crafting original creations using flowers and stones. Each participant will express their personal favorite world inside a small petri dish, culminating in a unique art piece that reflects their individuality.

How It Works: Three Steps to Your World

1. Select - Choose exciting pieces from assorted gemstones and dried flowers.
2. Create - Arrange the chosen pieces inside your petri dish.
3. Seal - Close the lid and place your creation in a bag to take home.

This process encourages children to explore their preferences freely, blending different elements however they wish. There are no right or wrong choices; it’s about discovering what they love.

After creating their masterpiece, a professional photographer captures children with their creations (limited to 60 participants per day). Families will receive printed photos later, presented in a special Magical Forest Atelier-themed frame, making this experience memorable and tangible.

Purpose and Participation Details

The initiative is aimed at providing families with free creative experiences, highlighting the significance of emotional learning in today's AI-driven world. With growing recognition of arts as a fundamental part of education, this project sees value in giving children artistic exposure early in life, a wish shared by many parents.

Despite the demand, opportunities for children to participate in art are often limited, which is why the Magical Forest Atelier was conceived. It serves as a platform where kids can encounter and explore their interests, connecting with the concepts of “liking” and “wanting to do.”

CHEERS collaborates with Meiji Yasuda and Aeon Mall to bring this workshop to life, each company contributing its strengths towards enriching the community. The focus is not on perfect outcomes, but on nurturing children's innate desires to explore and express themselves, fostering a supportive atmosphere for growth.

Future Events

The schedule for upcoming workshops includes stops throughout Japan, starting from Nagoya in May 2026 and cascading into June for various Aeon malls:
  • - May 30-31: Aeon Mall Shin-Norikura, Nagoya
  • - June 6-7: Aeon Mall Tsukuba and Takasaki
  • - June 13-14: Aeon Mall Himeji, Osaka
  • - June 20-21: Aeon Mall Funabashi
  • - July 4-5: Aeon Mall Morioka
  • - August 1-2: Aeon Mall Takamatsu

While these workshops provide priceless experiences, they also reinforce the companies' commitment to supporting community development through the arts and education.

Conclusion

Through the Magical Forest Atelier, CHEERS, Meiji Yasuda, and Aeon Mall are dedicated to fostering a vibrant future where children can thrive through creative expression and imaginative exploration. By nurturing their emotional and artistic sensibilities, we believe we can contribute to a more engaged and creative society moving forward.
