The National Sports Festival: Official Events from 2032 to 2035
The Japan Sports Association (JSPO), dedicated to creating environments for sports enthusiasts to participate, watch, and support, has made an exciting announcement regarding the upcoming National Sports Festival (formerly known as the National Athletic Meet). This milestone year marks the 86th festival in 2032 and will continue through to the 89th edition in 2035.
Official Competitions Approved
A total of
42 official competitions will be held during these events: 37 for the main festival, 3 for the winter sports festival, and 2 for preliminary competitions introducing sports reform.

Sports Reform Initiatives
The upcoming National Sports Festival represents a crucial transitional phase as it serves as the last four events in the second cycle, leading up to the new vision for the festival set for 2036 and beyond. To ensure a successful transformation, a panel of experts has been assembled to evaluate the feasibility of new sporting practices and methods in light of discussions from a dedicated task force. The objective is to also connect this experience to future reforms of the festival.
