Vineeta Agarwala Elected as the New Chair of the NVCA Board



On June 5, 2025, the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) announced the appointment of Dr. Vineeta Agarwala as the new Chair of its Board of Directors for the term spanning 2025-2026. Agarwala, who is a General Partner at the prestigious firm Andreessen Horowitz, brings a unique blend of expertise as both a physician and a venture investor.

Bobby Franklin, President and CEO of NVCA, expressed optimism regarding Agarwala's leadership, noting her exceptional insight into the intersection of innovation and policy. He highlighted her comprehensive understanding of how technological advancements manifest in real-world applications, as well as her awareness of how policy frameworks can either expedite or hinder innovations. Franklin stated, "Her experience at the forefront of tech and investing gives her a lens on how smart policy and long-term capital can enable American startups. In her new role, Dr. Agarwala aims to enhance the role of venture capital in an era where technology is transforming various sectors, including healthcare, energy, education, and infrastructure. Dr. Agarwala's appointment also comes with the transition from the previous chair, Byron Deeter, a Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. Franklin highlighted some of the distinguishing aspects of Deeter's leadership, particularly his dedication to understanding the implications of policy on venture capital. Under his guidance, there was a significant focus on nurturing relationships with policymakers and emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship for national competitiveness.

Alongside Agarwala's appointment, the NVCA introduced eight new directors to its Board of Directors. Each of these new members will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029. The new directors include:
