National Coalition of Labor Unveils New Wellness Center in Rock Island to Benefit Union Members

New Health Center for Union Members in Rock Island

On October 3, 2026, the National Coalition of Labor (NCL), alongside Premise Health and various union partners, proudly unveiled the MCL Health Center in Rock Island, Illinois. This facility aims to offer primary and preventive healthcare services without any cost to union members and their families, emphasizing the commitment to improving health outcomes in the region.

The health center began serving members as of September 15, and its official ribbon-cutting ceremony highlighted the significant resources dedicated to supporting workers and their families. Located at 7752 38th Street West, this wellness center stands as a testament to a collaborative effort between multiple unions to provide essential health services conveniently.

The MCL Health Center will serve over 2,700 members, providing an extensive range of medical offerings, including primary care, behavioral health, chiropractic care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. The aim is to foster ongoing relationships between patients and their healthcare providers, enabling preventive care that can identify health issues early. According to health policy reports, having a consistent source for primary care helps significantly in receiving preventive screenings, which are crucial for early disease detection.

Thomas Bernstein, the administrative manager for the Midwest Operating Engineers Fringe Benefit Funds (MOE), expressed the vision behind the center, stating, "As we open our newest facility in Rock Island, we do so knowing our Health Centers are the foundation of our Building Better Health mission." This initiative reflects a robust commitment to enhancing health accessibility for union workers.

Kris Guastaferri, the executive director of the Mid-America Regional Council of Carpenters (MACRC), added, "This partnership embodies our goal to ensure our members have ready access to compassionate, high-quality care close to home." The center indeed demonstrates an investment in healthier lives, building stronger families and robust workforces.

In addition to the services available to members of NCL, the health center will also cater to participants from the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 150 and Teamsters Local 301 Health and Welfare Fund, offering comprehensive medical and wellness services at no charge.

Stu Clark, CEO of Premise Health, noted, "Every health center we open with NCL reflects our shared commitment to making quality care accessible and affordable for those who keep our communities running." He expressed enthusiasm about the new Rock Island center, anticipating its positive impact on local families.
