Celebrating Creativity: BE OPEN Art Names 2025 Artist of the Year
BE OPEN Art Names 2025 Artist of the Year
BE OPEN Art, the esteemed online gallery founded by Elena Baturina's think tank, has announced its Artist of the Year for 2025. According to the gallery's mission to spotlight young talents, the title was awarded to Anastazie Anderson, a talented Czech-British artist whose captivating large-scale canvases merge elements from everyday photography, social media, and cinematic visuals. Anderson's art encapsulates what may be termed as "mediated fantasies," with each piece weaving a poignant narrative that straddles the realms of memory, authenticity, and imagination.
In her work, Anderson skillfully creates scenes that are as emotionally engaging as they are thought-provoking, evoking a sense of familiarity while challenging viewers to discern the lines between artifice and reality. "Her artwork resonates deeply, transcending generations and reminding us of our childhood through vibrant simplicity," remarked Elena Baturina, the founder of BE OPEN. Anderson's hard work during the year secured her a monetary prize of €1,000 as the Artist of the Year, voted for by art lovers inspired by her talent.
Meanwhile, Rio Skor, a Montreal-based architectural artist, has also been recognized in 2025 for her remarkable sculpture work. Earlier in her career, Skor honed her skills in the art of hand-carving marble in Carrara, Italy. She has now been awarded €500 to support her artistic endeavors, highlighting the importance of nurturing diverse artistic expressions.
In addition to honoring individual artists, BE OPEN Art has revealed significant achievements regarding the Community Support Fund, amounting to over €3,500. Established in January 2024, this fund aims to enhance financial mutual support among featured artists and collectors, fostering a more engaged community within the art world. This December, the fund will allocate proceeds to twelve outstanding monthly winners for the second consecutive year.
Among this year’s grant recipients from the BE OPEN Community Support Fund are talented artists from various parts of the world including Amal Al-Nakhala (Gaza), Wouter van Wessel (Netherlands), Zohaib Mahar (Pakistan), Wen Tong (Canada), theKraftzone (Nigeria), Rizpah Amadasun (UK), Audrey Lukban (Philippines), Mia Delorés (USA), Noushin Delfani (Iran), and Victoria Martínez (Uruguay).
The relentless efforts of BE OPEN Art and its dedicated community highlight the significance of supporting emerging artists. By nurturing and recognizing diverse talents from around the globe, they contribute to creating a more inclusive and vibrant art world. As Elena Baturina aptly put it, “It is essential that artists gain visibility and have their voices heard, as they invariably impact those who appreciate their work.”
As BE OPEN Art moves forward, it continues to encourage collaboration and creativity, striving to unite art enthusiasts and create lasting connections through the transformative power of art.
