National Sleep Foundation to Hold Drowsy Driving Prevention Week in 2025

The National Sleep Foundation (NSF) has announced that Drowsy Driving Prevention Week® will take place from November 2 to 8, 2025. This week-long initiative is aimed at raising awareness about the dangers associated with driving while drowsy, which remains a significant yet preventable cause of impaired driving. For over 18 years, the NSF has dedicated this week to educating the public about the risks of drowsy driving and providing resources to help prevent it.

Despite widespread recognition of the risks, statistics reveal a troubling trend: approximately 95% of Americans acknowledge that drowsy driving is hazardous, yet many continue to engage in the behavior. Research indicates that around 62% of drivers admit to having driven while feeling excessively tired, which translates to over 150 million motorists on U.S. roads. Alarmingly, the issue is particularly prominent among teen drivers. One in six young drivers reports having operated a vehicle while drowsy during the first two years of their driving experience.
