The general incorporated association, AgriFuture Japan (AFJ), has announced a series of online seminars aimed at showcasing new possibilities in the agribusiness sector. Under the leadership of Hiroki Agase (Chairman), AFJ is calling on professionals in the field and those specializing in innovation and new business support to share insights on the latest trends and innovations shaping the future of agribusiness.

The fourth seminar in this ongoing series is scheduled for March 19, 2026. It will feature Kengo Hamada, CEO of Akaponi Co., an innovative company that combines aquaculture and hydroponics through aquaponics systems. He will discuss the company's initiatives and share insights about the future of sustainable agriculture based on real-world experiences and challenges.

In addition, participants will learn about the 'Innovator Training Academy,' launched by AFJ in April 2024, as well as the associated 'Online School' aimed at fostering new value creation and problem-solving in agribusiness. This event is perfect for anyone interested in venturing into the agribusiness sector or seeking to address social issues through agricultural innovation.

Speaker Profile


Kengo Hamada, CEO of Akaponi Co.
Born in Miyazaki Prefecture, Kengo Hamada has gained substantial experience in new business development through roles at trading companies and foreign IT firms. In 2014, he founded Akaponi with a mission to promote circular agriculture through aquaponics. After engaging in research and development in the United States from 2017 to 2019, he returned to Japan and began production trials in Kanagawa. His comprehensive support spans facility construction, cultivation management, resource circulation visualization, and value chain optimization. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Aquaponics Promotion Association.

About the Organizer


AgriFuture Japan
Founded in February 2012, AFJ operates from its base in Minato-ku, Tokyo. The organization aims to develop the next generation of agricultural managers through its institution, the 'AFJ Japan Agricultural Management School,' which was transitioned into its current form from a more traditional model in 2023. As of October 31, 2025, the association boasts 205 members, focusing on research, education, and entrepreneurship in agriculture.

The school provides tailored learning experiences for various stages of agricultural careers and includes an online format that accommodates working individuals.

With a mission to empower individuals seeking to tackle agribusiness challenges or innovate within the sector, AFJ is committed to creating a sustainable agricultural framework for future generations.
