Successful Completion of the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation Week



From May 25 to May 29, 2026, the 7th China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Local Leaders’ Meeting and the 2026 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week successfully occurred in Jinan, China. This significant event, organized by the Shandong Provincial People's Government, along with the Secretariat of Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries and the China-CEEC Association of Provincial Governors, saw participation from over 600 esteemed guests from 44 countries, including key representatives from 15 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China.

The week-long initiative centered on the theme “Shaping the Future Together,” encompassing 23 detailed activities such as the opening ceremony, local leaders' dialogue, and governors' discussions aimed at promoting high-quality development and business matchmaking. A highlight of the opening ceremony was the attendance of notable guests such as Ivan Stoilkovikj, Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, and representatives from various countries, emphasizing the event's international significance. From these discussions, Shandong successfully established friendly cooperative relations with regions like the Minsk Region of Belarus, the Ionian Islands Region of Greece, and others. This expansion reflects Shandong's commitment to fostering an international friendship network, which has now grown to encompass 93 pairs of friendship provinces and states, along with 681 pairs of friendship cities across over 109 countries.

The event not only offered a platform for dialogue but also celebrated existing relationships, with projects launched such as the China-Greece Joint Laboratory on Smart Green Agriculture.
