Electreon and Electra Afikim Expand Wireless Bus Charging to New Terminal in Israel
Electreon and Electra Afikim's Wireless Charging Journey
In a significant step towards sustainable public transportation, Electreon, a frontrunner in wireless electric vehicle charging technology, has partnered once again with Electra Afikim to expand its innovative solutions across Israel. Following a successful implementation at the Rosh Ha'Ayin bus depot, the two companies are gearing up for a new wireless charging project at the Ovnat terminal in Petah Tikva, a bustling suburb of Tel Aviv.
The Evolution of Wireless Charging Technology
Electreon made headlines in November 2023 when it launched its first wireless charging system at the Rosh Ha'Ayin depot. This project let electric buses charge both overnight and during the day while parked, ensuring optimal utilization of the fleet. Over the last 1.5 years, 23 buses have benefited greatly from this technology, charging effortlessly during operational pauses and at night, which has fostered efficiency and reduced operational costs.
Oren Ezer, CEO of Electreon, voiced his enthusiasm regarding this renewed partnership, emphasizing that the trust Electra Afikim has shown by returning for a second project highlights the real-world benefits of their technology. According to Ezer, the advantages—ranging from increased driving ranges to cost savings—far exceed initial investments, underscoring the solution's economic viability.
