Elevate Your Security Solutions: Join the element14 Community Design Challenge
On March 2, 2026, the element14 Community, affiliated with the Avnet Group, announced an exciting design challenge focused on intelligent security and monitoring systems in Tokyo, Japan. Collaborating with Analog Devices, this initiative aims to empower engineers and makers to devise prototypes that incorporate advanced security functionalities.
Participants are encouraged to utilize the versatile Analog Devices MAX32630FTHR development platform and the Ulti Electronics SMD LED, which comes equipped with an integrated WL-ICLED controller, to design and create their prototypes or test rigs. This challenge not only promotes creative application of these components but also aims to explore innovative security capabilities.
To support the selected challengers, a free component kit featuring core elements such as the Analog Devices MAX32630FTHR will be provided, enabling them to build their prototypes. Each participant is also required to document their building process and share the final results through blog posts on the element14 Community platform.
Potential applications to be explored include facial recognition door entry systems, voice detection and facial detection technologies, environmental monitoring, crowd sentiment analysis, intrusion detection systems, and remote security entry solutions.
Andrea Theodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing at element14 Community, commented, “We are excited to see our global community unleash their creativity and problem-solving capabilities in the domain of security and monitoring with this challenge. This initiative is an excellent opportunity for participants to learn, share ideas, and demonstrate how innovative thinking can address real-world safety challenges.”
Stephane Di Vito, a distinguished engineer from the product security division at Analog Devices, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with element14 Community on this creativity and problem-solving challenge. He stated, “We are thrilled to work with element14 Community on this initiative that brings together passionate designers and engineers to explore new ideas and develop smarter, more effective security solutions.”
Outstanding projects will be rewarded in this design challenge. The first-place winner will receive a comprehensive 13-piece SimpliSafe home security system and a Multicomp Pro hot air rework station. The second-place winner will get the same SimpliSafe system along with a multi-driver set, while the third-place winner will be awarded another SimpliSafe system. Additionally, every participant who completes the challenge will receive a Multicomp Pro multimeter set.
