Takanawa Gateway City Art & Music Day 2025
On June 14, 2025, Takanawa Gateway City, a visionary urban space promoted by East Japan Railway Company with the slogan "This is the gateway to a good future," will host an enriching event titled
Art & Music Day. This outstanding all-day event is designed to celebrate creativity through three interactive programs that blend art and music, thanks to collaboration with the
Tokyo University of the Arts.
Art Workshops with Tokyo University of the Arts
One of the standout features of the day will be the
"Takanawa Gateway City×Tokyo University of the Arts: Engage, Create, Discover through the Five Senses Art Workshops". This event will offer six unique workshops led by esteemed faculty and graduates from the university. Participants will explore diverse art forms and music that aim to connect people, stimulate new ideas, and engage participants of all ages. The workshops promise to deliver a wealth of experiences that resonate with Tokyo University’s artistic spirit.
Whether it’s discovering traditional Japanese instruments, creating art pieces using traditional techniques, or engaging in hands-on activities that ignite creativity, attendees will find something to inspire them throughout the day. Notably, venues for these workshops are conveniently located at
THE LINKPILLAR 1 SOUTH 6F Conference Hall A and are free to attend, with no prior reservation required for most activities.
LINK SHOWCASE: A Celebration of Local Youth Talent
The
"LINK SHOWCASE: Takanawa Connection Concert" will provide a platform for local middle and high school brass bands from the Minato area to showcase their musical talents. The event invites attendees to appreciate not only the performances but also the camaraderie and mutual respect among participating schools. A special feature of this concert will be a woodwind quintet performance from members of the
NHK Symphony Orchestra, who will share their diverse musical experiences and give an engaging talk about their craft.
The concert is set to take place at
THE LINKPILLAR 1 SOUTH B2 LINKPILLAR Hall A & B from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. With free admission, this event enables community members to come together and support the young talents within their neighborhood. From school orchestras to professional musicians, audiences can expect a delightful blend of performances that highlight the talent nurtured in the Takanawa area.
Hands-On Instrument Workshops
As part of the
Instrument Experience Day, attendees will also have the chance to
"Listen, Feel, Experience" music through various interactive workshops at
THE LINKPILLAR 1 SOUTH 6F Conference Hall C. This exciting initiative welcomes people of all ages to engage with different instruments such as flutes, clarinets, violins, and digital saxophones. Guided by professional facilitators, participants will enjoy playing and learning about these instruments in an inviting and encouraging environment.
In addition to traditional instrumental experiences, attendees can participate in unique activities like a drum circle with diverse percussion. Everyone is welcome to join, regardless of their musical background or skill level.
A distinctly engaging innovation will be the
"DIY Trumpet Workshop", where participants will use tubing to create their own trumpets and learn about sound production. Coordinated performances with members of the NHK Symphony Orchestra will also give attendees an opportunity to collaborate in an ensemble setting for an enriching musical experience.
