Inviting Slogan Submissions for the 2024 Disability Week Poster

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is excited to announce that it is now accepting entries for the slogan to be featured on this year's Disability Week poster. This annual event runs from December 3 to 9, in accordance with the Basic Act for Persons with Disabilities, aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the welfare of individuals with disabilities. The week is a significant time to promote the participation of people with disabilities across all areas of society, including social, economic, and cultural dimensions.

Background of Disability Week

Disability Week is marked in December to honor the adoption of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by the United Nations on December 9, 1975. This week serves as a reminder for society to deepen its understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Through various initiatives, Tokyo aims to foster a coexistent society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, respects and supports one another.

As in previous years, we are calling on the public to submit original slogans that encapsulate the spirit of this initiative. Your phrases can spark conversations on disability issues and encourage a broader perspective within the community.

Submission Details

• - Word Limit: Each slogan must be 15 characters or less.
• - Originality: Only one original slogan per person will be accepted, and it must not have been previously published.
• - Eligibility: The contest is open to everyone, with no restrictions based on age or residence.
• - Incentive: Selected phrases will be featured in the 2024 Disability Week poster, and the winners will receive a 5,000 yen gift card.

• - Last year's motto was “We Weave a Future Together with Our Hands.”

Timeline for Submissions

The submission period will stretch from September 1, 2024, to September 25, 2024. It's important to note that entries must be postmarked by the deadline.

Interested individuals can submit their slogans using the online application form available starting from September 1 at this link. Additionally, submissions can also be sent via email or traditional mail (postcard).
