An Exciting New Collaboration

Wakatsuru Distillery, located in Toyama's Tonami City, is thrilled to announce the launch of a special limited edition single cask whiskey, inspired by the renowned historical figure, Liu Bei, featured in the video game "Sangokushi 8 REMAKE." This unique collaboration with Koei Tecmo Games marks a significant milestone as it follows the successful initial release which saw around 1,500 applicants for the first series. With this second collaboration, whiskey enthusiasts can anticipate not only Liu Bei’s distinct bottle but also a range of five whiskey designs, showcasing different generals from the famed game, with future releases to be unveiled soon.

The whiskey, dubbed "Single Cask Saburo Maru Liu Bei #210039," boasts intriguing specifications:

As part of improving transparency and reliability in Japanese whiskey, each of the five designs in this collaboration will feature the JW logo, a certification mark given only to those products compliant with the Japanese standards established by the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association (JSLMA). This initiative, effective from 2024, aims to help consumers easily identify legitimate Japanese whiskey products.

About Liu Bei

Liu Bei, known as the first emperor of Shu and a descendant of the Han dynasty, plays a pivotal role in Chinese history. He placed great value on loyalty and justice, solidifying bonds with notable figures like Guan Yu and Zhang Fei during turbulent times. His charismatic leadership attracted talented strategists, including Zhuge Liang and Zhao Yun, leading to the establishment of the Shu kingdom. However, he met his demise in the midst of battles against Wu, leaving a rich legacy marked by compassion and depth.

About Sangokushi 8 REMAKE

Scheduled for release on January 29, 2026, "Sangokushi 8 REMAKE with Power-Up Kit" is commemorated for the 40th anniversary of the franchise. This upgrade introduces new gameplay features across various roles, offering diverse commands for enhancing generals’ development. Players can look forward to game-changing events influenced by time and disaster, as well as new characters and scenarios, expanding the player experience.
