Jessica Shrum Named Senior Vice President of Strategy at Cox Enterprises
Cox Enterprises is making significant strides towards its growth and diversification objectives with the appointment of Jessica Shrum as the Senior Vice President of Strategy. In this pivotal role, Shrum will be instrumental in shaping the enterprise-wide strategy for the company, focusing on how it expands, diversifies, and positions its business portfolio for sustained growth.
Shrum’s new role is designed to enhance both the analysis of investment opportunities and the exploration of adjacent businesses that leverage the existing strengths of Cox Enterprises. Her leadership aligns with the company’s mission to leave a positive impact on the world, a principle deeply rooted in its operational philosophy.
Her appointment is especially relevant as Cox Enterprises continues adapting to new market trends and demands, ensuring its diverse business segments remain competitive and innovative. Shrum will complement Senior Vice President Andrew Davis, who focuses on Cox's minority investments through Socium Ventures, the company’s evergreen venture and growth investment firm.
Before this new position, Jessica Shrum held the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Cox Communications. She joined the organization in 2006, where her career has been marked by diverse and increasingly responsible roles across the company’s major divisions. This experience equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of the business and strategic insights crucial for her new challenges.
Dallas Clement, President and Chief Financial Officer of Cox Enterprises, praised Shrum, stating, "Jessica is a thoughtful, forward-looking leader with a strong track record of translating strategy into practical results. As we lean further into opportunities to grow and diversify our family of businesses, Jessica will play an essential role in setting the strategic vision that will help us shape our future."
Throughout her career at Cox, Shrum has acquired extensive knowledge in various sectors. She transitioned to Cox Automotive in 2016, where she became Vice President of Corporate Strategy. There, she led strategy development for an extensive $8 billion portfolio, comprising over 35 businesses. Later, she served as Vice President of Operations for Fleet Solutions at Cox Automotive, a role where she actively drove growth.
In 2024, her capabilities were recognized once again as she assumed the leadership role of Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Cox Communications, managing strategy across a $13 billion portfolio and overseeing adjacent business operations. Before joining Cox Enterprises, her career included roles in product, marketing, and corporate strategy at BellSouth/ATT, as well as consulting positions at Andersen Business Consulting.
Delighted with her new appointment, Shrum remarked, "Having spent much of my career working in different businesses across Cox Enterprises, I'm incredibly proud to take on this new role. I look forward to building a strong team that will help to unlock the full potential of our businesses while continuing to drive what comes next for Cox Enterprises as a whole."
