The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is currently seeking applications for fixed-term positions. 1. Recruitment Period


The positions are set to commence on April 1, 2026, and will conclude on March 31, 2027. There is a possibility of contract renewal not exceeding three years depending on the candidate’s performance and the ministry's needs.

MEXT is looking to hire 2 individuals, each assigned to different roles as detailed below:

  • - MEXT Administrative Officer (Professional staff under the Nuclear Damage Compensation Division)

4. Job Responsibilities


The successful candidates will be engaged in managing and facilitating operations within the Nuclear Damage Compensation Dispute Resolution Center established to mediate compensation disputes resulting from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. The responsibilities include:

4.1 Information System Management

  • - Design, implement, and maintain information systems vital for handling cases, progress tracking, and closure processes within the center. This involves data gathering and structuring necessary to ensure smooth operations.

4.2 Staff Management and Facility Maintenance

  • - Oversee a workforce of approximately 150 personnel, handling their attendance, recruitment, and managing various office environments and logistical needs. Tasks will include managing working hours, processing leave applications, and maintaining operational efficiency in the work facility.

5. Eligibility Criteria


Applicants must meet the following requirements by April 1, 2026:
1. Have graduated from high school or a secondary education institution at least two years prior.
2. Be a Japanese national.
3. Not reach retirement age (62 years) by the hiring date.
4. Meet specific legal criteria specified in the National Public Service Act, which disallows certain criminal records and disciplinary actions against public employees from participating.

6. Desired Candidate Qualities


For Information System Roles:
  • - Strong commitment to public service and desire to contribute positively to societal outcomes.
  • - Excellent competencies in interpersonal negotiations and effective communication skills.
  • - At least three years of relevant experience in IT project management, evidencing capabilities in information systems design and management.
  • - Practical experience with VBA programming in Excel and Access, as well as familiarity with Oracle applications.
  • - Understanding of security policies and holding relevant information technology certifications.

For Staff Management Roles:
  • - As above, with a focus on at least two years of experience in administrative roles within either public or private sectors.
  • - Proficient in office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ideally hold fire management qualifications.

7. Employment Conditions


  • - Working Hours: 9:30 AM to 6:15 PM (including a break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM; overtime expected based on project needs).
  • - Working Days: Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays and year-end breaks (December 29 to January 3).
  • - Location: Tokyo Office of the Nuclear Damage Compensation Dispute Resolution Center, 1-5-13 Nishishinbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
  • - Leave Policy: Standard weekend leave, paid annual leave, summer breaks, and sick leave are applicable.
  • - Salary: Based on the General Job Staff Salary Law, considering educational background and professional experience.
