Blockchain for Good Alliance Recognizes Blockchain Projects Advancing the SDGs at 2025 Forum
On November 4-5, 2025, the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA), a non-profit organization founded by Bybit, convened the Blockchain Impact Forum in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the UNDP's Alternative Finance Lab (AltFinLab). This two-day event brought together over 300 policymakers, technologists, and leaders from more than 30 countries to investigate how blockchain technology can advance tangible progress towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A Platform for Collaboration and Purpose
The forum commenced with a special leadership day titled "Chains of Change," focusing on governance, digital public infrastructure, and cross-sector partnerships. On the second day, the BGA Awards recognized outstanding blockchain projects addressing real-world challenges related to financial inclusion, sustainability, and digital trust. This marked the first major global convention wholly dedicated to showcasing blockchain's potential for positive global impact.
Key Themes and Speakers
The agenda of the forum featured interactive panels, keynote speeches, and project presentations across three main themes:
1.
Blockchain for Digital Public Goods: Discussing governance, digital identity, and transparent data systems.
2.
Finance for Inclusion and Impact: Exploring blockchain's role in democratizing capital access and enhancing financial equity.
3.
Sustainability and Climate Accountability: Presenting blockchain use cases in carbon emission tracking, supply chain traceability, and ESG reporting.
Notable speakers included Helen Liu, co-CEO of Bybit and founder of the BGA; Robert Pasicko, team lead at UNDP AltFinLab; Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation; and David Ripley, CEO of Kraken. Their insights emphasized the increasing significance of blockchain technology in building trustworthy systems, enhancing transparency, and consolidating innovation to drive global development.
Celebrating Excellence with the BGAwards 2025
The forum concluded with the 2025 BGA Awards, honoring blockchain projects that contribute to the SDGs and illustrate innovation for the common good. The winners of the SDG Blockchain Accelerator each received $2,000: Genius Tags, Plastiks, and ZenGate. The winners of the BGA Incubation for 2025 in various stages of development included:
- - Ideation Stage: Kelox (1st - $10,000), Give Hope ($3,000), Nuva ($3,000), Social Activation ($3,000)
- - Growth Stage: Token Tails (1st - $30,000), Rumsan (2nd - $20,000), EsusFarm (3rd - $10,000)
Joint funding initiatives also recognized projects such as Genpulse, Genosight, and Ideosphere, showcasing collaborative financial efforts within the blockchain ecosystem.
This year's award recipients reflect the Alliance's commitment to advancing blockchain solutions that foster concrete progress in sustainability, inclusion, and digital trust, ultimately transforming innovative efforts into a positive impact on communities worldwide.
Blockchain for the Global Common Good
Participants over the two days reaffirmed the necessity for collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure that blockchain innovation aligns with human development goals. The forum exemplified how blockchain can reinforce institutional trust, unlock new financing avenues, and create transparent systems that promote social and environmental progress.
Helen Liu highlighted, "What we witnessed in Copenhagen is the emergence of a movement where blockchain technology offers a shared infrastructure for trust and accountability. Our mission at BGA is to transform innovation into impact, ensuring every block built contributes to a fairer and more sustainable future."
The Blockchain for Good Alliance continues to expand its ecosystem, accelerating responsible blockchain initiatives that will fulfill the promise of technology for a more inclusive and sustainable world.
