The Fourth China International Supply Chain Expo: A Platform for Global Collaboration
On June 22, 2026, the Fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) kicked off in Beijing, showcasing the critical role of supply chains in today's interconnected economy. The opening ceremony featured notable speeches from distinguished guests including South Africa's Vice President Paul Mashatile and John W.H. Denton AO, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce. Adding to the significance of the event, Jennifer Jordan-Saifi, CEO of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, conveyed a congratulatory message from King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
With approximately 1,300 representatives from various sectors, including government, business, academia, and international organizations from over 100 countries, the event highlights global commitment to sustainable growth and collaborative efforts in supply chain management.
Ren Hongbin, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), emphasized the expo's focus on fostering sustainable economic development, enhancing trade and investment ties, and strengthening international collaboration within supply chains. He reiterated the CCPIT's commitment to providing robust platforms for businesses worldwide, aiming to nurture industrial partnerships and contribute to a more open global economy. The CISCE aims to create new opportunities for both Chinese and international companies, reinforcing the importance of interconnected supply chains in the global marketplace.
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was the launching of the 4th Beijing Initiative for the CISCE, jointly released by the CCPIT and global business leaders. The initiative underscores the theme of this year's expo: “Connecting the World for a Shared Future.” This theme resonates deeply in a time when global challenges require coordinated responses and collaboration among businesses and nations.
Supporting the event are five international organizations, including the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the International Trade Centre, and the International Chamber of Commerce. Notably, Australia was designated as the honored guest country, while the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France and the Liguria region of Italy were recognized as the first international honor guest regions. Additionally, the provinces of Anhui and Hainan were named national honored guest provinces.
The CISCE features six key supply chain areas: digital technologies, advanced manufacturing, sustainable agriculture, healthy lifestyles, connected vehicles, and clean energy. Alongside these sectors, there is a dedicated exhibition space for supply chain services. The expo has attracted 676 top enterprises, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and industry organizations from 85 countries and regions, signifying the global nature of supply chain dynamics.
This comprehensive organization reflects the growing importance of supply chains in ensuring businesses can adapt to changing global circumstances, leverage technological advancements, and meet consumer demands in an era characterized by rapid changes and digital transformation. As countries look to navigate economic uncertainties and foster resilience, events like the CISCE play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global trade and investment.
As this key event unfolds in Beijing, it not only highlights the significance of supply chain connectivity but also represents a united front among international stakeholders aiming for collective prosperity through cooperation and innovation.
