Make-A-Wish's Second Year of 'WishMakers Wanted' Campaign
In a heartwarming initiative, Make-A-Wish America has announced the return of its impactful
'WishMakers Wanted' campaign as it embarks on World Wish Month in April 2025. This campaign comes at a critical time as the organization celebrates its 45th anniversary of granting life-changing wishes. Every day, Make-A-Wish fulfills an average of 89 wishes worldwide, thanks to the dedication of
WishMakers, who contribute their time, talents, or resources.
The campaign aims to rally communities to support the noble cause of wish granting, emphasizing the urgent need for more WishMakers. These individuals can be volunteers, fundraiser, donors, or corporate partners. With a growing number of children diagnosed with critical illnesses—one every 20 minutes, according to the organization—there is an ever-growing demand for these vital services.
During
World Wish Month, which aligns with the organization’s mission to spread joy and hope, Make-A-Wish will utilize multi-channel storytelling that includes advertising, social media, and local events to shine a spotlight on the crucial role of WishMakers. This year’s event features several exciting activities, including:
- - Launch Reception: A special kickoff event in New York City, hosted by former Olympian Shawn Johnson East and her husband Andrew East, to honor WishMakers in the community.
- - Coast-to-Coast Tour: A first-ever tour designed to connect WishMakers across major U.S. cities like Chicago, Phoenix, Denver, and Las Vegas, fostering community spirit.
- - Mosaic Artwork Project: A collaborative project inviting WishMakers to participate in creating a mosaic that represents their collective impact.
- - eBay for Charity Auction: Running from April 14-24, this auction will feature exclusive items and experiences donated by celebrity and corporate WishMakers, with all proceeds going directly to the wish-granting process.
- - Celebrity Participation: Various public figures from entertainment and sports will share their WishMaker stories on social media, engaging their followers and encouraging them to join the movement.
- - Corporate Support: Many national corporate partners, including American Airlines, Marriott, and WWE, will activate in support of World Wish Month through fundraising initiatives and customer engagement in stores and online.
Leslie Motter, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish America, emphasized the transformative power of wishes: “For 45 years, we have seen how wishes not only provide hope and joy but also contribute to better health outcomes for children facing critical illnesses. The continued support of WishMakers allows us to bring this magic to even more deserving children.”
World Wish Month culminates with
World Wish Day on April 29, commemorating the anniversary of Chris' iconic wish to be a police officer in 1980, which sparked the global wish-granting movement now thriving with over 615,000 wishes granted to date.
Make-A-Wish invites everyone to become a WishMaker and help create more magical experiences for children in need. To learn how to contribute, individuals can visit
