In Memory of Judge Akira Kitaya

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Akira Kitaya on November 21, 2024. A distinguished former judge and esteemed lawyer, Kitaya-sensei left behind an indelible mark on the legal profession and inspired countless students and colleagues throughout his career. In his honor, we will hold a memorial gathering to celebrate his life and contributions.

The memorial gathering is to be hosted by a committee of his former students and colleagues, with the kind support of Hosei University’s Law School, where Kitaya-sensei imparted his wisdom and expertise to aspiring legal professionals. We warmly invite you to join us and pay your respects, as we reminisce and reflect on the rich legacy he has left us.

Event Details:

• - Date: September 20, 2025 (Saturday)
• - Time: From 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM (Registration starts at 1:00 PM)
• - Venue: Hosei University, Outer Moat Campus, Satsuta Hall

We kindly ask that all attendees dress in casual attire for the gathering. Should any attendees wish to send flowers in memory of Kitaya-sensei, please direct all inquiries to HIBIYA KADAN at 0120-87-9487.

• - Flower contribution fee: 16,500 JPY (including tax, per entry)
• - Contributions will be acknowledged publicly on a memorial board.
• - Registration for flower contributions will close on September 18, 2025, with operating hours from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
