Beacon Global Strategies Establishes New Export Control and Industrial Strategy Practice

Beacon Global Strategies Launches New Practice

In a strategic move to enhance its advisory services, Beacon Global Strategies (BGS) has officially launched its Export Control and Industrial Strategy Practice. This initiative comes in response to an increasing emphasis on U.S. manufacturing revitalization and supply chain diversification that are vital for numerous high-tech sectors, including AI, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

New Leadership:

To lead this practice, BGS has promoted Meghan Harris to Managing Director. Harris brings a wealth of experience from both governmental and industry sectors, focusing specifically on national security and export control matters. Her previous roles include significant positions at GlobalFoundries, the Semiconductor Industry Association, and various strategic roles within the government, including service on the White House National Security Council staff.

Joining her in this newly formed practice is Kevin Kurland, who serves as Senior Advisor. Kurland has an extensive background in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), with nearly three decades of experience in developing and enforcing export controls. His understanding of how regulations evolve and the interplay between technology and national security positions him as a vital asset to BGS and its clients.

Market Opportunities and Challenges:

The U.S. administration's commitment to bolstering domestic manufacturing and securing supply chains presents a myriad of opportunities across essential technology sectors. These include artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and critical minerals, among others. However, with expansion comes increased risk—particularly regulatory and geopolitical concerns.

Harris emphasized that their goal is to provide companies with an advantage in decision-making processes. BGS aims to offer adaptive strategies that will help businesses navigate the complexities of regulatory frameworks while optimizing their standing in national security.
