Crypto Industry Steps Up for Bronx Schools with Hands-On Support from MoonPay and New York Cares

Crypto Industry Supports Bronx Students

In a remarkable showing of community spirit, the crypto industry has taken a significant step to support students in the Bronx, New York. Building on last year's successful Crypto for Good initiative, MoonPay and New York Cares partnered once again, transforming financial commitments into tangible actions that benefited New York City's underserved public schools.

A Financial Commitment Matched by Action

The project was spearheaded by MoonPay, a leading provider of crypto payment solutions, and New York Cares, the largest volunteer network in the city. Last year's Crypto for Good campaign raised nearly $500,000 to aid NYC public schools, specifically targeting Title I schools that face the greatest challenges. Under the leadership of MoonPay President Keith A. Grossman, this substantial fundraising effort involved contributions from numerous crypto entities, including the Solana Foundation, Ripple, Exodus, and many others.

On May 18, 2026, this funding was matched by hands-on volunteer efforts as over 20 companies participated in a revitalization event at PS246X in the Bronx. Employee volunteers painted hallways, refurbished bathrooms, constructed benches, and completed a new indoor playground to enhance the school's environment.

Empowering Through Community Engagement

The day was a testament to how collaboration within the crypto community can create real-world impact. Sapreet Saluja, Executive Director of New York Cares, expressed deep gratitude for the involvement of crypto firms, emphasizing how their time and effort on volunteer day represented a profound commitment to the educational landscape of the city.

“We are incredibly grateful to see the many companies across the crypto community show up for New York City's students and teachers,” Saluja stated. “Our volunteer day at PS246X is a shining example of how MoonPay's commitment can turn innovation and generosity into real change.”

Keith A. Grossman, reflecting on the initiative, noted, “It is inspiring to see Crypto for Good evolve from fundraising into real action, providing us a tangible way to make an impact within the New York City Public School system.” He further highlighted the crucial role of collective action in addressing the needs of the city's population during challenging times.
