CPHI & PMEC China Experience Record International Participation Amid Pharmaceutical Trade Boom

CPHI & PMEC China Returns with Unprecedented Global Participation

The pharmaceutical sector is witnessing a remarkable revival, as evidenced by the upcoming CPHI & PMEC China event scheduled for June 24-26 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This year's iteration is positioned to be the largest pharmaceutical gathering ever held in Asia, attracting more than 90,000 attendees, including over 12,000 international managers.

Surge in International Interest

The robust turnout reflects a resurgence in the pharmaceutical industry alongside enhanced global supply chains. The easing of trade tariffs has further catalyzed this growth, creating favorable conditions for international collaboration and investment. This year’s event is characterized by a historic influx of global participants, signaling renewed optimism within the sector.

Natasha Jennings, Director of Global Growth Marketing, highlighted the underlying strength of the industry's foundations. "The global pharmaceutical landscape is achieving record targets in research and is returning to a growth trajectory. International participants are engaging with China's extensive network of raw material manufacturers and production facilities, actively contributing to global production growth."

As international stakeholders flock to the event, many are seeking new suppliers of raw materials and equipment amid the strong manufacturing infrastructure that China offers. Notably, there’s a growing interest from Western pharmaceutical companies in Chinese biotechnology assets, driven by access to domestic markets and promising global licensing opportunities.

Expanding Influence and Attendance

Not only is there a notable presence from Western firms, but also an increase in attendance from Middle Eastern countries, particularly as Gulf states implement strategies to establish regional manufacturing hubs. Concurrently, larger delegations from India and the United States are also attending, underscoring the expanding international network of pharmaceutical players.

The significance of the CPHI & PMEC China event is further amplified by its impressive participant profile; approximately 80% of attendees hold purchasing authority, and over half occupy leadership roles within their organizations.

Additional Programs and Highlights

To complement the exhibition, there will be a series of specialized programs designed for various sectors, including a program for natural extract buyers on June 23 and another catering to pharmaceutical machinery buyers on June 24-25. The event will also feature the prestigious CPHI Celebration Awards, the 10th Biopharmaceuticals Outlook Summit, an innovation gallery, and regional factory tours.

With over 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries showcasing their offerings across more than 230,000 square meters, the event will introduce 12 specialized zones, including new sections focused on “BioTech” and “Fluid Precision Equipment.”

Strategic Partnerships on the Horizon

As global managers look to expand their partnerships within China, they are increasingly focused on creating primary, secondary, and backup suppliers to facilitate long-term strategic planning. With improving trade relations, a renaissance in global pharmaceutical partnerships is also anticipated, positioning companies for sustained growth and collaboration.
