Aichi Prefecture's Sports Innovation Project: A Call for Collaborations

Aichi Prefecture has kicked off its 2026 Aichi Sports Innovation Project, inviting startups and companies to apply for a unique opportunity to collaborate and co-create innovative solutions for local community challenges related to sports. This initiative is managed by The Small Things Co., Ltd., led by CEO Etsushi Tagami, who is also a Sports Business Advisor for the Aichi Prefecture.

The program aims to foster innovation by leveraging the expertise and technologies of various businesses and startups. It focuses on the three main collaboration themes that were established after individual consultations with participating sports clubs and associations. Through this program, Aichi aims to create new services and solutions that address social issues, making a significant impact on both the community and the sports sector.

Program Overview

The recruitment phase for businesses and startups runs from July 10, 2026, to August 25, 2026. Applicants are encouraged to visit the dedicated program website for detailed information on submission requirements, eligibility criteria, and collaboration themes.

Etsushi Tagami believes that the intersection of sports clubs, federations, and businesses will yield new services and innovative solutions that can effectively resolve critical community issues. The program will facilitate discussions between various stakeholders to streamline challenges and identify needs. This co-creative approach is expected to unlock new value derived from sports.

Application Qualifications

This initiative is open to any private entity possessing a legal corporate structure, regardless of business stage or size. Full details regarding eligibility and submission requirements can be found on the program's website.

Financial Support for Selected Projects

Selected businesses and startups will benefit from financial aid for conducting proof-of-concept trials. The maximum support amount is set at 2.5 million yen (including tax) per company. This amount may vary depending on the number of approved projects and their respective requirements. The specifics concerning payment and timing will be determined in consultation with the selected entity post-approval.

Submission Procedure

Interested parties must complete two key components to submit an application:
1. Entry Form: Fill out the necessary information on the entry form available on the website.
