GAC Magazine and Solid-State Batteries Earn National Acclaim



On December 29, a pivotal conference titled Forging the Path to National Strength: China's Manufacturing Achievements Under the 14th Five-Year Plan took place at the National Museum of China. This event showcased over 300 remarkable manufacturing achievements from across the nation. Among the highlights were the exceptional innovations by GAC, specifically the Magazine Battery and the solid-state battery, which were featured prominently at the exhibition.

The GAC Magazine Battery stands out as a groundbreaking product, making history as the first battery system to successfully pass stringent tests for safety, including nail penetration tests that proved its non-flammability and resistance to re-ignition. This innovative battery employs ultra-high intrinsic safety cells combined with an advanced active safety monitoring system that operates in all weather conditions. Moreover, it features a multi-dimensional safety protection system, categorized into core, active, and passive protections, thereby exceeding the safety requirements set forth for electric vehicle traction batteries (GB38031-2025) that will become enforceable from July 1, 2026.

To date, the Magazine Battery has been integrated into 1.3 million vehicles, clocking over 50 billion kilometers without incidents of spontaneous combustion, which provides users with a robust layer of safety assurance for their journeys.

Meanwhile, GAC’s solid-state battery demonstrates impressive advancements in capacity, achieving an energy density exceeding 400 Wh/kg. It has also passed rigorous safety examinations, including tests under extreme thermal conditions at 200°C and nail penetration assessments, effectively addressing user concerns regarding both autonomy and safety. The innovative approaches in materials and manufacturing processes have placed GAC's solid-state battery at the forefront of the industry, setting benchmarks in key indicators such as safety, energy density, and longevity.

Currently, GAC has set up a pilot production line dedicated to the solid-state battery, enabling mass production of over 60 Ah batteries for vehicles. This move represents a crucial step toward the goal of full integration into vehicles by 2026.

Throughout its development, GAC has continuously enhanced its competitiveness by innovating in areas such as intelligent connectivity, new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrain technologies, and future-forward technologies.
