Inspiring Young Minds: Career Education through 3D City Models
On November 28, 2025, Synesthesias Inc., led by CEO Ryoji Ayear, engaged young learners at Arakawa Ward’s Dai Kyukda Elementary School in Tokyo. They conducted a special class titled "Designing the Future City," as a part of Tokyo's initiative to promote entrepreneurship among elementary and junior high school students.
During the session, students had the unique opportunity to explore a 3D city model of Maebashi City. This model demonstrated how variations in building heights and the placement of advertisements influence the urban landscape in real time. The practical demonstration was facilitated using a tool designed to aid urban landscape development, enabling students to visualize changes in their environment interactively.
Understanding the Urban Landscape
The lesson aimed not only to enlighten students about urban planning but also to inspire them with the message that their interests and experiences can lead to future career opportunities. Ryoji Ayear shared his own journey from elementary school to entrepreneurship, encouraging students to embrace their passions and explore diverse experiences.
The demonstration showcased critical viewpoints on landscape changes:
- - Building Height: How does altering building heights change the way a city looks?
- - Advertising Impact: What impression does the installation of advertisements have on the city?
Using the 3D city model, the children were highly engaged and eager to learn about the sophisticated simulation technology used in local governments. They exhibited a keen interest when shown how simple alterations could lead to substantial changes in the urban perception.
Synesthesias Inc. and Educational Initiatives
Synesthesias Inc. continues to leverage its 3D technologies in the education sector. Their goal is to instill a dual learning framework that nurtures both urban planning concepts and computational thinking. This approach is reflected in their commitment to STEAM education, by using 3D city models to help children understand complex spatial dynamics and the fundamental structures and rules that guide our environments.
The company is dedicated to providing ongoing educational activities that empower children through interactions with 3D technology. By doing so, they hope to equip the next generation with the skills to analyze their surroundings and imagine their futures more clearly.
CEO’s Vision for the Future
Ryoji Ayear, the CEO, stated, "Experiencing the city in 3D enables students to intuitively grasp the formation and challenges of urban spaces. In this class, the children became absorbed in the 3D models. This technology holds the potential to cultivate an understanding of urban development and enhance programming skills simultaneously, making it an invaluable tool in STEAM education. Synesthesias is committed to continuing its contributions to education by returning technological benefits back to society."
