Unveiling Artistic Collaboration in Kobe: WONDERGROUND Performance by AiRK and Seishin Chuo Hall

AiRK × Seishin Chuo Hall: WONDERGROUND in KOBE

On June 21, 2025, the Seishin Chuo Hall in Kobe, managed by the Theatre Workshop Co., invites the community to experience the unique WONDERGROUND work-in-progress performance. This event, part of a collaborative project between AiRK (Artist in Residence KOBE) and the hall, offers a chance for local residents and visitors to deepen their understanding of the region.

The Collaboration

This marks the second phase of the joint project featuring AiRK, a platform that gathers artists from both domestic and international backgrounds for creative exploration. This collaboration aims to cultivate cultural connections within the community.

The performance will spotlight prominent figures such as Tom Weksler, a key member of the Barcelona-based dance platform WONDERGROUND, along with Roser Tutusaus and acclaimed performer Miki Moriyama. Their program will include research, creation, and interaction with community members, ultimately resulting in a work-in-progress showcase grounded in Kobe's unique culture.

About WONDERGROUND

Founded by Tom Weksler and Roser Tutusaus, WONDERGROUND is a platform for artistic research and creation, focusing on themes such as community, love, ecology, and human existence. Their performances are known for being physically rich and visually captivating.

Tom Weksler

Born in Haifa, Israel, in 1989, Weksler began exploring the nuances of movement through acrobatics and martial arts from a young age. He toured internationally with the Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak Dance Company from 2010 to 2014, blending powerful physical techniques with philosophical insights to create a distinctive movement language that connects his body with space and nature.

Roser Tutusaus

Born in Tarragona, Spain, in 1985, Tutusaus started her career as a rhythmic gymnast before transitioning into dance after studying music and theater. She honed her skills at the Artes Dance Academy in the Netherlands and later pursued journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, along with spatial design studies at UPC-CCCB. Tutusaus beautifully explores the dialogue between performers’ internal landscapes and their surroundings through a unique lens.

Miki Moriyama

Originally from Hyogo Prefecture, Moriyama has engaged with various dance forms since childhood and debuted on stage at age 15. He spent a year in Israel as a cultural exchange ambassador, further expanding his international engagements. Moriyama has created a cross-disciplinary practice that interrogates physical expression through relationships, receiving numerous awards, including a role in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics opening ceremony. Since 2022, he has been involved with AiRK in Kobe, fostering local artistic talent.
