CCAJP Condemns 'Big Beautiful Bill' As a Disastrous Move for Small Business in America

CCAJP Criticizes the House's 'Big Beautiful Bill'

The Coalition for Crowdfunding American Jobs and Prosperity (CCAJP) has voiced strong disapproval of the recently passed House version of the 'Big Beautiful Bill'. According to CCAJP, this legislation is viewed as a serious detriment to small businesses across America, favoring large corporations instead while neglecting critical needs of smaller enterprises.

Brian Christie, the Co-Chair of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA) and spokesperson for CCAJP, characterized the bill as a betrayal of Main Street. He stated unequivocally, "The bill is nothing short of a betrayal of Main Street. It does nothing to help small businesses adapt or survive—and worse, it strengthens the position of their biggest competitors: bloated corporations with lobbyists and global supply chain insulation."

While the bill's proponents argue that it will benefit the economy, critics, including Christie, point out that it offers considerable tax advantages to large companies and the ultra-rich. This includes permanent corporate tax breaks and enhanced loopholes for wealth transfer, leaving small businesses with only a modest pass-through deduction, failing to address real challenges like supply chain disruptions, trade uncertainties, and limited access to capital.

At a recent EntreLeadership Summit, finance expert Dave Ramsey articulated discontent regarding Washington's apparent disregard for small businesses. He expressed: "This idea that we love small business in Washington is an absolute load of horse manure. All I need is a predictable environment... it's the unpredictability that kills small business."

CCAJP highlighted the missed opportunity of the TRUMP Jobs Act, a proposal that offers a 50% tax credit for Regulation Crowdfunding investments, potentially creating 1 million jobs and injecting $120 billion into the economy. "It's exactly the kind of grassroots policy we need," asserted Jenny Kassan, President of CfPA. This alternative, unlike the 'Big Beautiful Bill', is designed to provide immediate and meaningful support to small businesses, enabling them to thrive in a challenging economic landscape.

As the bill goes on to the Senate, the CCAJP is urging lawmakers to remain true to their claims that small businesses are the backbone of the economy. U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune remarked, "Small businesses are the backbone of our economy." In the same vein, Devin Thorpe, CEO of The SuperCrowd Inc., emphasized that, "If Washington wants to talk about putting America first, they need to start by putting America's small businesses first." Without this shift in focus, he argued, the bill serves as nothing more than a grand illusion of support.

In summary, the Coalition for Crowdfunding American Jobs and Prosperity stands firm in its belief that the 'Big Beautiful Bill' is a major setback for small businesses. Advocates for these enterprises hope that the Senate can amend the bill to incorporate mechanisms that genuinely assist small businesses, especially in the wake of unprecedented economic challenges.
