Envision Energy Introduces Revolutionary Gen 8 Scalable Platform with Enhanced Energy Density and Flexibility

Envision Energy Rolls Out the Gen 8 Scalable Platform

Envision Energy, a prominent figure in the green technology sector, has officially launched its Gen 8 Scalable Platform during its recent Tech Day event in Beijing. This rollout marks a significant leap for the company, particularly following the successful introduction of its 8 MWh solution at Intersolar earlier this year. With the Gen 8 Platform, Envision brings forth an extensive array of modular configurations tailored to fulfill varied utility-scale renewable energy integration, high-performance operations, and decarbonization initiatives around the globe.

Innovative Design Features

The Gen 8 Scalable Platform enhances the skid-based modular design pioneered by its predecessor, Generation 6. This design offers superior on-site flexibility while minimizing balance-of-plant (BoP) work requirements. Throwing a massive upgrade into the mix, the platform leverages the energy density improvements initiated with Generation 7's 5 MWh container, incorporating the advanced 750+ Ah cell technology. This combination results in a logistics-friendly 10-foot modular unit that provides remarkable adaptability across numerous project sites without sacrificing efficiency during transport, installation, or operations.

Customers can select from configurations that include 6 MWh, 8 MWh, 10 MWh, and 12 MWh (and larger) units that cater to their specific needs. This flexibility enables projects to optimize land use, conform to project economics, and meet performance demands with utmost efficiency.

Modular Flexibility with Advanced Safety

The innovative design of Envision's 10-foot modular units not only provides exceptional adaptability for projects of various scales but also enables support for extensive applications lasting over four hours with ease. Each unit weighs less than 29 tons, allowing for easy transport across regions with stringent weight restrictions for bridges or axles. This lightweight design permits clients to utilize lower-tonnage vehicles and cranes, enhancing equipment accessibility while potentially reducing overall project costs and minimizing land demands for on-site maneuverability.

Utilizing higher-tonnage cranes can facilitate the installation of multiple energy storage units without relocating equipment, thereby reducing project installation and commissioning time by as much as 30%. Moreover, the platform implements a comprehensive prevention-first fire safety strategy that incorporates multi-layer protections, adhering to the industry’s highest safety standards. This design alone achieves a notable 12% reduction in auxiliary power consumption, complemented by optimized State of Charge (SoC) algorithms and continuous dynamic balancing to maintain maximum operational capacity.

Economic Impacts and Operational Efficiency

Each modular unit, constructed on a high-capacity platform featuring 750+ Ah cells, provides not only increased energy density but also a considerably smaller footprint for standard four-hour systems. These advancements culminate in a 12% reduction in overall auxiliary power needs, which collectively lead to decreased overall project expenses and a lengthened lifespan for the technology. Such efficiencies yield improved economic benefits, demonstrated through an estimated 1% internal rate of return (IRR) uplift for a 100 MW four-hour project when juxtaposed against a baseline of 5 MWh systems.

Envision’s Gen 8 Platform is supported by its proprietary EnOS intelligent operational technology and information technology ecosystem, which merges SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and Hybrid Power Plant Controllers (PPC) solutions into a cohesive control architecture. This setup enables sophisticated real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and revenue optimization. Cloud-enabled fleet management leverages machine learning to enhance operations and prolong system longevity, guaranteeing optimal financial returns for all projects undertaken.

Environmental Durability and Advanced Features

The Gen 8 Scalable Platform also introduces Envision Energy's second configuration of its 10 MVA system, which incorporates four parallel-coupled 2.5 MW Power Conversion System (PCS) units. This modular design not only boosts system resilience and availability but also presents a quieter operational profile compared to singular, larger machines—an essential factor for settings concerned with noise pollution.

Engineered to perform under the most challenging conditions, this system operates reliably across a temperature spectrum from -30°C to +55°C, conforming to IP55 and C5 anti-corrosion standards designed to withstand extreme salt, humidity, and outdoor environments. The low-noise technology (≤55 dB(A)) combined with optimized aerodynamics significantly minimizes airflow resistance and fan noise, rendering it suitable for deployment in sound-sensitive locales.

Kevin Huang, Senior Vice President and President of the Energy Storage Product Line at Envision Energy, encapsulated the platform's promise: “The Gen 8 Scalable Platform reflects our continuous commitment to delivering storage solutions that blend technical excellence with practical adaptability. Rather than being a singular product, this range provides a comprehensive suite of solutions, enabling our clients to personalize projects while upholding the highest standards of reliability and performance.” Huang emphasized the platform's role in supporting a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy landscape while affirming Envision's unwavering commitment to expediting the global shift towards renewable energy.
