Revamped Nakasu Yatai Village Atmosphere at Yakata-ya Hakata Theater in Koto Ward

A New Look for Yakata-ya Hakata Theater

On September 1, 2025, at 16:00, the Yakata-ya Hakata Theater located in Monzen-Nakacho will relaunch its doors after a comprehensive renovation. This establishment, a subsidiary of Ikka Holdings, brings the lively essence of Nakasu Yatai Village in Hakata to Tokyo, providing guests with a vibrant dining experience synonymous with the renowned street food culture of Kyushu.

To celebrate the reopening, customers can enjoy highballs for just 100 yen (about $1) each, making this a perfect opportunity for both new and returning patrons to indulge in the culinary delights the restaurant offers. This special pricing will run until the end of September 2025, excluding weekends and holidays.

Reasons Behind the Renovation

The Yakata-ya Hakata Theater opened its doors on August 31, 2015, and after more than nine years of service, it is time for a refreshing update. The renovation aims to enhance customer comfort through the following improvements:

1. Exterior Update: The entrance of the restaurant has been redesigned to present a more stylish and memorable look welcoming guests into a vibrant atmosphere.

2. Expanded Seating: Responding to popular demand for more table seating, the restaurant will add eight new table seats on the first floor. This adjustment improves layout convenience for groups, fostering a more social dining experience.

3. Interior Refresh: In an effort to enhance comfort and cleanliness, all aspects of the restaurant's interior, including flooring and wall treatments, have undergone thorough cleaning and refurbishing, transforming the space into a sophisticated environment.

With these renovations, the Yakata-ya Hakata Theater invites diners to enjoy a revitalized and accessible dining experience.

Highlights of Yakata-ya Hakata Theater

One of the signature offerings is the Iron Pan Gyoza. Almost every guest orders this popular dish, made fresh daily with finely wrapped layers that capture the flavors of meat and vegetables. Pan-seared to perfection, these gyozas are crispy on the outside while remaining juicy and tender within — a true representation of Hakata's street food delights. This dish is priced at 495 yen (about $4.50) per serving, with a minimum order of two servings.

Unmatched Dining Experience

The atmosphere at the Yakata-ya is vibrant and bustling, replicating the lively energy found in Hakata's Nakasu Yatai Village. Guests will be escorted through an enjoyable “theater-style” dining environment, complete with festival music playing in the background, enhancing the excitement. While in Nakasu, it's common for diners to hop from stall to stall; this venue conveniently offers a variety of traditional Hakata dishes all in one place. It’s a space overflowing with energy, smiles, and joy.
