Huawei Unveils Intelligent RAIL 2.0 at InnoTrans 2026 to Transform Global Rail Solutions

Huawei Revolutionizes Railway Solutions with Intelligent RAIL 2.0

In a groundbreaking announcement at InnoTrans 2026, the world's largest railway transport exhibition held from September 22 to 25, Huawei has revealed its new offering, Intelligent RAIL 2.0. This advanced suite of intelligent solutions aims to address the pressing issues within the global railroad sector, demonstrating Huawei’s commitment to leading digital transformation in transportation.

The event was graced by influential stakeholders, including representatives from the International Union of Railways (UIC) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP). They gathered to explore the future of rail transportation and the role of digital technologies in enhancing operational efficiencies.

Insights from Industry Leaders

Raymond Zuo, the President of Huawei's Smart Rail Business Unit, emphasized the critical need for integrating artificial intelligence into mainstream railway systems. According to Zuo, the advent of digital technologies is not just a trend but a necessity for contemporary railway operations. He highlighted how the Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) will serve as a foundational element for developing robust digital infrastructures. Furthermore, he underscored that AI applications will increasingly permeate and integrate within the core systems of the industry, making standardization essential.

Jean-Michel Evanghelo, UIC's director for Digital Systems and Innovations, echoed these sentiments, stressing that AI's role in rail transport must not grow unchecked but rather be framed within a standardized approach to maintain safety and operational clarity.

In a poignant address, Lidia Signor of UITP discussed the collaborative effort with the China Association of Metro (CAMET) in producing a research report titled “Smart Rail Transport Powered by Artificial Intelligence.” This report covers the various applications of AI in construction, operation, and maintenance protocols across metro systems, highlighting improved operational efficiency and safety standards.

Introducing Intelligent RAIL 2.0

Huawei's Intelligent RAIL 2.0 is characterized as an innovative strategy that leverages a blend of digitalization and artificial intelligence to elevate the entire railway ecosystem. This new solution marks a significant evolution in how rail services operate, focusing on several core aspects:
- Reliability (R)
- Automation (A)
- Integrated Services (I)
- Long-term Evolution (L)

To tackle industry challenges, Huawei has launched this suite, comprising 20 scenario-based solutions targeting critical areas such as construction, passenger and freight transport, alongside infrastructure maintenance. These tailored solutions will be developed in collaboration with various industry partners, ensuring that they meet specific business requirements.

Currently, Huawei services over 50 major railway clients globally, covering more than 300 urban rail lines that span approximately 180,000 kilometers of track. This extensive footprint positions Huawei not just as a leader in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) but also as a trusted partner for businesses aiming for comprehensive digital transformations.

Future Vision

Looking forward, Huawei is committed to driving its platform and ecosystem strategy. The company plans to refine its offerings continually, working together with global clients and partners. The goal is to enhance industry cooperation, gain insights into emerging technological trends, and support the deep integration of cutting-edge technologies within rail transport scenarios.

By perpetually updating its solutions, Huawei aspires to empower global rail transport to progress toward a future that is not only more efficient and safe but also environmentally sustainable, heralding an era of intelligent mobility.
