Florida Southern College Hosts 10th Annual Mother's Day Luncheon
On May 9, 2025, Florida Southern College (FSC) proudly hosted its 10th Annual Mother's Day Luncheon, held at the Roberts Academy. The event welcomed the remarkable Tim Tebow, renowned Heisman Trophy winner and first-round draft pick of the NFL, as the keynote speaker. This year's luncheon gathered students, parents, and community members to celebrate the impactful work being done for children with dyslexia.
The Roberts Academy stands as a pioneering institution in Florida, dedicated to supporting children with dyslexia. It is among the very few comprehensive schools across the nation that specifically caters to the needs of these students. At the event, Tebow delivered an uplifting speech highlighting the significance of determination and self-belief, sharing insights from his personal journey as someone who also faced challenges related to dyslexia.
Known for his accomplishments both on and off the field, Tim Tebow is a four-time New York Times bestselling author, motivational speaker, and college football analyst. He is also the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation, which provides support to individuals in need worldwide through various initiatives. The foundation operates in over 70 countries and is centered around four main ministries: orphan care, aid for children with medical needs, anti-human trafficking efforts, and outreach to people with special needs.
All proceeds from the luncheon go directly to The Roberts Academy Scholarship Fund, supporting the institution's goal of making quality education accessible for students with dyslexia. The Academy offers an extensive range of academic programs and additional resources designed to empower parents and teachers as they navigate the educational landscape for dyslexic students.
Students from elementary to middle school receive personalized instruction and access to a variety of learning materials, thanks to the collaboration with Florida Southern College. This dynamic environment fosters a deep-seated passion for learning, allowing students to excel in essential subjects like language, reading, and mathematics.
Dr. Tracey Tedder, provost and vice president of academic affairs at FSC, emphasized the Academy's transformative impact, stating, "The Roberts Academy is more than a school. It is a sanctuary of hope, a place where children are empowered by their strengths. Because of the Academy, children have discovered their confidence and potential; for their families, it has been nothing short of life-changing."
The Mother's Day Luncheon not only highlights the inspiring contributions of mothers but also reinforces the critical role of education in transforming lives.
