Stellantis Welcomes Antonio Filosa as New CEO Amidst Industry Transformation

Stellantis Welcomes a New Era with Antonio Filosa as CEO

On May 28, 2025, Stellantis N.V. made a significant announcement during a press release, disclosing that its Board of Directors has unanimously selected Antonio Filosa as the new Chief Executive Officer. This landmark decision comes after a comprehensive selection process involving both internal and external candidates, as overseen by a Special Committee led by Executive Chairman John Elkann.

Antonio Filosa, previously serving as the Chief Operating Officer for the Americas and Chief Quality Officer, will officially assume his new role on June 23. The transition marks a pivotal moment for Stellantis as it steers through challenges and opportunities in a rapidly evolving automotive landscape.

In anticipation of this leadership change, the Board has scheduled an Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting in the coming days to formally elect Filosa to the Board as an executive director. This will ensure that he can effectively carry out his CEO responsibilities from the moment he steps into his new position.

The Board’s decision to elevate Filosa to the CEO position is grounded in his proven track record over an impressive 25-year career in the automotive industry. His extensive experience is complemented by his deep understanding of the company and leadership qualities that have earned him recognition in the sector.

Filosa has demonstrated his capabilities through successive roles at Stellantis, notably leading both North and South American operations. Under his leadership in South America, he successfully propelled the FIAT brand to a market-leading position, while also fostering significant growth for brands like Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep. His contributions have significantly bolstered Stellantis’s presence in the region.

One of his notable achievements was overseeing the creation of the Pernambuco plant, which has become one of South America's most substantial automotive production hubs. This initiative not only marked the launch of the Jeep brand in Brazil but also established the country as a vital market outside of the United States.

As Jeep's CEO, Filosa was instrumental in expanding the brand’s global footprint, particularly in Europe, where its models, including the Jeep Avenger, have become massive hits. His recent promotion to COO of the Americas in December 2024 enabled him to initiate positive changes in U.S. operations. These included reducing excess dealer inventory, reorganizing the leadership structure, and enhancing collaborations with dealers, unions, and suppliers.

John Elkann, who will remain as Executive Chairman during this transition, expressed confidence in Filosa's capabilities, noting how his comprehensive knowledge of Stellantis and the automotive industry places him as the ideal choice for the CEO role as the company gears up for new developments.

Elkann emphasized, "Antonio's deep understanding of our Company, including its people, who he views as our core strength, equips him perfectly for the role of Chief Executive Officer in this next and crucial phase of Stellantis' development."

Supporting this sentiment, Stellantis Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot remarked, "We unanimously welcome Antonio's appointment as our new Chief Executive Officer. His track record of successful leadership during his many years with our Company speaks for itself."

In response to his selection, Filosa expressed gratitude for the faith placed in him by the leadership team and the Board. He emphasized the talent and passion of Stellantis's workforce and the importance of innovation and customer satisfaction as cornerstones for future success.

As Stellantis embarks on this new chapter under the stewardship of Antonio Filosa, the automotive industry watches closely, eager to see how his vast knowledge and leadership will drive the company towards new achievements in an era defined by rapid transformation and competition in the sector.
