Douglas Lake Celebrity Pro-Am: A Unique Event Uniting Stars and Pro Anglers for Tinnitus Awareness

Douglas Lake Celebrity Pro-Am

The Douglas Lake Celebrity Pro-Am Fishing Tournament is set to make waves once again as it returns for its third edition, featuring a fusion of country music icons and professional fishing talents. This much-anticipated event aims to amplify awareness about tinnitus, a condition that affects millions, and to raise funds for the American Tinnitus Association (ATA).

Organized by Texas Roadhouse pro angler Mike DelVisco, this year’s tournament honors the late Texas Roadhouse founder Kent Taylor, who battled severe tinnitus. Launched in 2023, the tournament was created to celebrate Taylor's legacy of community support and to address the challenges faced by those dealing with tinnitus — a condition reportedly affecting 10 to 15 percent of the U.S. population, leading to significant discomfort and disruption in daily life.

“Kent was a long-time friend who put community first in everything that he did. It’s in that spirit—dedication to others, helping where there’s a need, and having a good time while making a difference—that we’re here for our third year,” DelVisco expressed during an event preview. For him, the tournament encapsulates hope and healing, which aligns with ATA’s mission to support individuals living with tinnitus and fund critical research for improved treatments.

ATA's CEO Patrick A. Lynch praises DelVisco for his ongoing commitment to the cause, noting that events like this one play a crucial role in funding vital research while also fostering important conversations around tinnitus. The involvement of both the country music and fishing communities helps in reaching out to a broader audience, reiterating the message that individuals are not alone in their tinnitus journey.

The tournament will include a fun-filled kickoff party on August 27, featuring live country music, culinary delights from Texas Roadhouse, vendor booths, and exciting raffle prizes.
