Innovative Idea Hackathon Elevates Practical Use of Generative AI at Pocket Queries
On April 16, 2025, Pocket Queries Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, held an exciting internal event titled the "Idea Hackathon" at their headquarters in Hatsudai. The purpose of this event was to enhance practical skills in utilizing generative AI technologies, including ChatGPT, while promoting cross-departmental idea generation.
The rapid advancement of generative AI has prompted many companies to incorporate it into their workflows. At Pocket Queries, the aspiration goes beyond mere research usage; they are focused on applying these technologies in operations and providing cognitive support across the entire organization. The Idea Hackathon was formed as part of this initiative, where staff members from varying expertise—sales, corporate services, and engineering—collaborated in mixed teams to tackle real-world applications of AI tools and enhance their proposal-making abilities.
A total of 24 participants divided into four teams put their creativity to the test focusing on themes such as "Innovating Business Processes," "Enhancing Internal Knowledge Utilization," and "Strengthening Customer Engagement." This diverse mix of employees aimed at brainstorming valuable ideas to improve operations through creative application of generative AI.
Despite having over 90% of employees using generative AI in their daily tasks, challenges remained. Many expressed concerns about stopping at simple searches or being uncertain about usage. Therefore, ahead of the hackathon, Pocket Queries established a unique framework categorizing the stages of AI utilization into seven levels. The objective for this event was for all participants to reach Level 4, which signifies "Applied Usage and Cognitive Support."
Numerous practical ideas were generated that linked the challenges faced by employees directly with generative AI solutions, showcasing a remarkable perspective.
