Citadines and BIKAS COFFEE: A Journey for Sustainable Coffee
In an exciting new initiative, Citadines, part of The Ascott Limited hospitality group, is partnering with BIKAS COFFEE to offer a novel accommodation experience known as "Coffee for the Future Stay." This unique stay initiative aims to foster coffee cultivation in Nepal and is set to launch on November 27, 2025. The Ascott Limited operates nearly 1,000 properties worldwide across over 40 countries, providing exceptional hospitality services.
What is "Coffee for the Future Stay"?
"Coffee for the Future Stay" combines the joys of travel with sustainability by directly linking guest stays to a reforestation project in Nepal. For every night stayed at one of four participating Citadines facilities in Japan—Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo, Citadines Central Shinjuku Tokyo, Citadines Harborfront Yokohama, and Citadines Namba Osaka—1,000 yen (excluding tax) will be contributed to the planting of coffee trees through BIKAS COFFEE's reforestation efforts. This initiative not only promotes forest preservation in Nepal but also aids in generating employment for local farmers.
An Engaging Experience
As part of this unique offer, guests will receive a special gift: a steeping coffee made from BIKAS COFFEE’s select beans. This provides guests with an opportunity to enjoy a rich coffee experience while reflecting on the importance of sustainable practices that connect them to the production process.
The projects support local economies by planting coffee trees, which are expected to be harvested three years later, thus creating a sustainable cycle where the very coffee enjoyed by guests comes from the trees they helped plant.

A Broader Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond providing a significant contribution to the environment and local economies, this initiative aligns with The Ascott Limited’s corporate social responsibility program "Ascott Cares." The project’s three pillars—Community, Environment, and Alliance—reflect the commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, with the goal of enhancing the value of travel experiences.
BUKAS COFFEE themselves promote a sustainable framework by using agroforestry practices to cultivate high-quality coffee while ensuring the stability of income for local farmers. This collaboration reinforces both companies’ shared values of fostering meaningful connections through travel.
Understanding BIKAS COFFEE
BIKAS, meaning "development" in Nepali, embodies the drive to create economic opportunities in rural Nepal through quality coffee production and agroforestry. They have launched a project called “BIKAS COFFEE VILLAGE,” where coffee seedlings are planted in the communities that nurture them, stimulating job creation and agricultural prosperity.
Through their initiatives, BIKAS COFFEE aims not just to deliver delicious coffee but to cultivate a deeper understanding of the environmental and social impacts associated with coffee production. They emphasize traceability, allowing consumers to connect with the origin of their coffee and the people behind it.
Positive Environmental Impact
The reforestation project aims to plant 3,000 trees over five years, with an expected annual reduction of up to 30 tons of CO₂ emissions. This is the equivalent of the emissions produced by approximately 13 vehicles traveling 10,000 kilometers, or around 300 one-way flights between Tokyo and Osaka.
This innovative collaboration between Citadines and BIKAS COFFEE exemplifies how hospitality can contribute positively to global challenges while providing guests with an enriching, sustainable travel experience. Join them in cultivating not only coffee forests but also a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come.
