Key Highlights from the Partnership
On March 19, 2026, during the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW) 2026, a landmark partnership was formalized between the
SANY Foundation and the
United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). The signing took place in a ceremony that not only marked a significant step for SANY but also established the foundation as the first Chinese corporate foundation to enter into a partnership agreement with OCHA. This collaboration aims to facilitate comprehensive frameworks for disaster preparedness, emergency response, and early recovery support for communities in crisis globally.
The partnership agreement was signed by
Edem Wosornu, the Director of Crisis Response at OCHA, and
Dr. Olivier Huang, Chairman of SANY France. The essence of this agreement revolves around merging SANY's industrial expertise, technological innovations, and expansive global network into international humanitarian efforts. This strategic alliance is seen as a critical move towards reinforcing humanitarian assistance during catastrophic events across the globe.
Engaging Discussions and Contributions
During the HNPW 2026, SANY Foundation's engagement was further emphasized through its participation in two pivotal sessions organized by the
Connecting Business Initiative (CBI). On March 10, the foundation was recognized as a thematic partner at the CBI Welcome Breakfast, where various influential organizations like Visa, Microsoft, and UPS were also present. The focus of the discussions was on mechanisms for integrating private sector efforts into humanitarian actions.
Danxi Shen, Secretary-General of SANY Foundation, shared the organization’s experiences and learnings from disaster relief operations in regions such as Turkey, Myanmar, and the United States. The discussions highlighted the vital role heavy machinery plays in rescue operations, debris removal, road clearance, and restoring access to affected communities during crises.
Following this, on March 11, a panel discussion was conducted to explore the significance of corporate philanthropy in global humanitarian responses. Representatives from various foundations, corporations, and NGOs exchanged insights, and SANY Foundation detailed its swift response to the 2025 floods in Sumatra. Collaborating with Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and KADIN, SANY deployed 13 units of heavy machinery over more than two weeks to help reopen critical emergency access routes. During the discussions, Danxi emphasized that the private sector, leveraging its resources and networks, could play a transformative role in managing global crises when mobilized effectively.
A Commitment to Global Humanitarian Efforts
The signing of this partnership agreement between SANY Foundation and OCHA represents a significant commitment towards integrating advanced industrial knowledge and technological advancements into global humanitarian operations. CBI Program Coordinator,
Kareem Elbayar, articulated that governments, businesses, and civil societies need to collaborate unrestrainedly to effectively tackle and manage global disasters and protect communities at risk. This agreement significantly enhances SANY's ongoing efforts in advancing the
Global Machinery Relief Alliance, which seeks to unite machinery, technology, and global networks for coordinated humanitarian relief measures.
Through this partnership, SANY strives for a future where no community is left alone in times of disaster. The foundation reaffirms its dedication to contribute innovations and industrial knowledge for the greater good. The institution's vision is to establish a world marked by proactive engagement in humanitarian aid, fostering resilience and support for vulnerable communities worldwide.
