Exploring Career Development in Organizations: New Insights from Mai Teishigawara

Exploring Career Development with Mai Teishigawara

In a significant move towards enhancing organizational and individual relationship dynamics, the Protean Career Association, based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has launched an archive of a forum held on August 30, 2025. Titled Living Yourself: How to Face Your Abilities and Wounds, the session has now become available to the public on YouTube.

Overview of the Session

The event features renowned organizational development expert Mai Teishigawara, who is celebrated for her insights on moving away from ability-centric approaches. This session addresses critical questions about how individuals can confront their capabilities and emotional scars while navigating their careers. Participants, often subconsciously burdened by their organizations' expectations, are encouraged to reflect on their journeys ahead and what supportive measures their organizations should implement.

The archive will be available starting December 2, 2025, and can be accessed without needing to input personal information via the following link: Watch Here.

Insights from the Organizational Development Lab

The organizational development lab has been actively engaging with the themes presented in Teishigawara's book, Injured at Work. Members of the reading group expressed how even the most optimistic individuals sometimes carry unseen injuries due to the demands of capability placed upon them by their organizations. This has fueled the motivation to organize a session with Teishigawara, aiming to uncover methods for addressing these challenges. It is believed that the insights shared will resonate deeply with everyone working in organizational environments.

Certifications and Educational Opportunities

In conjunction with the session, the Protean Career Association also offers a plethora of certification programs and exams. These initiatives are highlighted within the scope of Japan's largest career event, the Protean Forum, which is orchestrated by certified professionals committed to collective learning and growth. Upon completion of the examination, participants are welcomed into a community focused on furthering their skills and knowledge.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to join the ranks of professionals driving their career evolution. The upcoming 22nd Protean Career Basic Course is set for January 17, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a registration deadline on January 13. Additionally, the career certification exam will take place on either February 7 or 8, 2026. Applications for this will close on January 26, 2026.
