Sega's Latest Survival Horror Game: 'Cronos: The New Dawn'
Today, Sega proudly unveiled the physical edition of the much-anticipated survival horror title, 'Cronos: The New Dawn', developed by Bloober Team. Available for PlayStation®5 and Nintendo Switch™ 2 as of December 11th, the game transports players into a gripping narrative filled with danger and suspense.
Alongside the game's release, a promotional video featuring renowned actress Michiho Fukudome and comedian Nishida has dropped, showcasing their comedic chemistry. This makes the eerie atmosphere of 'Cronos: The New Dawn' even more engaging and entertaining.
What is 'Cronos: The New Dawn'?
'Cronos: The New Dawn' is a third-person survival horror game that requires players to navigate through a dystopian future while also traveling back to 1980s Poland. As players confront nightmarish creatures, they must also prevent humanity's downfall. Rather than merely defeating foes, players must incinerate them; otherwise, the vanquished adversaries may merge with nearby corpses, creating formidable threats.
The promotional video, titled 'The Most Terrifying Creature Cooking', features Fukudome portraying a deranged culinary expert and Nishida portraying his hapless assistant. The humorous interplay between the two leads is a delightful touch that contrasts with the game’s otherwise dark tone, enhancing player engagement.
Insight from the Celebrities
Michiho Fukudome's Perspective
Fukudome expressed her excitement about assuming the role of a gradually unhinged chef, navigating the complexities of voice modulation during recordings. She shared, “I recently watched a horror movie that left me too terrified to go to the bathroom. The concept of a horror game really spooked me, but stepping into this pop-comedic character provided me with considerable relief. I requested Nishida to deliver a genuine scream on set, and fans should watch for his unexpected reactions.”
Nishida's Experience
Nishida, known for his jovial nature, humorously acknowledged his typical role in horror stories as a disposable character. He noted the honor in playing a villain, especially with someone he feels comfortable with, like Fukudome. Relatable in the face of horror, he exclaimed, “At 31, I find it harder to watch young people's romantic reality shows. However, I believe viewers will have a great time watching our promotional video.”
Gameplay Features
Survive the Future and Save the Past
Set against a backdrop that combines Eastern European brutalism with retro-futuristic technology, players will experience a pulse-pounding narrative. As a traveler employed by a mysterious organization called 'The Collective', your goal is to explore this ravaged future while discovering time lifts that transport you back to 1980s Poland. The decisions players make will ultimately affect the storyline's conclusion.
Stop the Fusion
Once defeated, creatures will grotesquely merge with nearby corpses, evolving into faster, stronger, and deadlier forms. Therefore, using limited ammunition and resources strategically is crucial, as you will face increasingly dangerous foes unless you incinerate them.
Harvest the Essence
Your mission will also include locating significant individuals lost in this apocalyptic world. Using a powerful 'Harvester,' you will extract 'Essences' from them to return to the future. However, carrying too many Essences amplifies the curse of your suit, leading to disturbing whispers and hallucinations, driving your mind into madness.
