In an exciting development, Yokohama City University (YCU), located in Yokohama, Kanagawa, is set to launch a unique recurrent program focusing on the analysis and application of location-based and human flow data specifically tailored for the tourism sector. In collaboration with the Location Business and Marketing Association (LBMA Japan) and Zenrin Datacom, this initiative aims to equip professionals with the skills necessary for effective business planning and strategy development.
The importance of location data and human flow analytics has skyrocketed in recent years, particularly within industries such as tourism, transportation, and urban planning. However, the lack of organized learning opportunities to effectively apply this data in practice poses a significant challenge. Addressing this gap, YCU's newly established program will mark the first step toward enhancing data literacy in the tourism sector.
A focal point of this program is aimed at the upcoming GREEN×EXPO 2027, an expo in the Osaka-Kansai region. Participants will engage with real-world data analysis from the event to develop proposals that maximize its economic impact. This curriculum, titled "Event Analysis Using Human Flow Data and Proposal Skills Enhancement for Maximizing Economic Effects at GREEN×EXPO 2027," will be led by Associate Professor Takayuki Arima from the Urban Social Cultural Studies Department at YCU.
