Refineverse Corporation Achieves RCS Certification with Innovative Nylon Recycled from Fishing Nets

Refineverse Corporation's Remarkable Achievement: RCS Certification

Refineverse Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo and led by President Akira Ochi, has successfully attained RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certification for its high-quality nylon pellets, branded as REAMIDEⓇ. These pellets are produced from discarded fishing nets collected from various regions in Japan. The certification covers the production processes at two key locations: the Ichinomiya Plant in Aichi Prefecture and the Tomakomai Plafactory, a recycling facility for fishing nets operated in partnership with Suzuki Shokai, based in Sapporo.

Following the certification, the first shipment of REAMIDEⓇ has already been completed. The RCS certification, provided by Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc., confirms that over 95% of the materials used in the production of REAMIDEⓇ are recycled.

Tackling Marine Plastic Pollution

In response to the growing concerns about marine plastic pollution, where approximately 40% of marine debris is estimated to originate from discarded fishing gear, Refineverse has expanded its initiative to recover and recycle used fishing nets. Together with its partner Suzuki Shokai, which recycles fishing nets from the Hokkaido region at its Tomakomai facility, Refineverse has made significant strides in improving sustainability in the textile and manufacturing industries.

The acquisition of RCS certification not only validates the recycled nature of REAMIDEⓇ but also strengthens collaborations with domestic and international brands and suppliers. This will facilitate the broader adoption of recycled materials in various industries, contributing to a more sustainable future.

High-Quality Nylon Pellets from Waste Fishing Nets

REAMIDEⓇ is a high-quality recycled nylon pellet primarily derived from used fishing nets. After collecting these nets from various locations across Honshu, they are thoroughly washed and filtered at the Ichinomiya Plant to eliminate contaminants. The resulting pellets have found applications in a diverse range of products, including construction materials, home appliances, apparel, and office furniture.

About Refineverse Group

Refineverse Group has been a champion of the circular economy for over 20 years, focusing on the regeneration and development of various materials. The company operates a circular recycling business that transforms carpet tiles, often discarded in large quantities at offices and facilities, into a material called Refine Powder through a horizontal recycling model. Additionally, they have been transforming waste fishing nets and airbag fabric from old vehicles into high-quality recycled nylon pellets named REAMIDE.

In 2023, Refineverse ventured into a new project by developing a bio-based material called ReFEZER, made from bird feathers, further solidifying its commitment to sustainability through innovative business practices.

Overall, Refineverse Corporation's initiatives and recent achievements not only pave the way for sustainable material usage but also set a benchmark in the recycling industry, showcasing how innovation and responsibility can intertwine for a better future.
