Century Lithium Strengthens Its Leadership with New Strategic Advisor Cormac O'Laoire

Century Lithium Strengthens Its Leadership Team

Century Lithium Corp. is making significant strides in the lithium sector as it announces the appointment of Dr. Cormac O'Laoire as its new Strategic Advisor. This addition to the leadership team comes at a crucial time as the company is poised for rapid growth in the lithium battery supply chain.

Bill Willoughby, the President and CEO of Century Lithium, expressed enthusiasm about Dr. O'Laoire’s extensive background. He remarked, “Cormac brings invaluable experience across the lithium-ion battery ecosystem and offers a practical perspective on how lithium projects interconnect with the global battery supply chain.” This move is aimed at not only supporting the company’s current initiatives but also strategically evaluating future opportunities as Century Lithium moves forward with its Angel Island project.

Dr. O'Laoire comes with over 20 years of experience, specializing in the lithium-ion battery ecosystem. His expertise spans lithium mining, chemical refining, and battery technology, making him an ideal asset for the company. He has collaborated closely with various stakeholders, including governments and leading global battery manufacturers, to enhance lithium production efficiency and support the scaling of critical battery minerals that are essential for the booming electric vehicle market.

Currently serving as the Managing Director of Electrios Energy, Dr. O'Laoire advises on lithium supply chains while focusing on the challenges of refining lithium into the high-purity, battery-grade materials necessary for electric vehicles. His previous work with the U.S. Department of Energy has equipped him with valuable insights which will benefit Century Lithium’s objectives.

Based in Hong Kong for over a decade, Dr. O'Laoire is expected to contribute a global perspective on the competitive dynamics surrounding battery supply chain development in the United States. His involvement will be particularly important as Century Lithium aims to establish a resilient domestic lithium and battery materials industry, which is crucial given the growing demand for electric vehicle batteries and energy storage solutions.

About Century Lithium Corp.

Century Lithium is currently advancing its lithium project located at Angel Island in Esmeralda County, Nevada. This promising site is home to one of the largest sedimentary lithium deposits in the United States. The company is leveraging its patented chloride leaching process, combined with Direct Lithium Extraction, to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate, fulfilling a critical need in the fast-expanding electric vehicle market.

The company’s strategic planning for the project includes the sale of surplus sodium hydroxide produced during the lithium extraction process, which is anticipated to contribute significantly to keeping operational costs competitive.

As one of the few advanced lithium projects in the U.S., Angel Island is designed to deliver a comprehensive solution for producing battery-grade lithium carbonate. Currently, this project is in the permitting phase, with a feasibility plan that aims to achieve an estimated output of 34,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate annually over a 40-year lifespan.
